It's definitely growing all the time, so I'm sure it'll be much bigger. I also have a feeling people in the general public who are not involved in the fandom will start to have a better understanding for it and not believe so much of the media's exaggerations or false claims about the fandom X3

It's definitely becoming less "unusual" than it was ten or fifteen years ago. It's definitely a primary attribute of the younger generation with some older folks mixed in. The growth of the fandom itself seems to be exponential. I was searching through the attendance of several different furcons over the period of several years and the numbers just go up every year. I don't think the growth will be explosive, but it'll definitely continue to grow as this generation passes it on to the next. The day the furry fandom dies is the day that not two people on earth have any form of love for anthropomorphism, our fuzzy four-footed or winged cousins in the animal kingdom. Statistically, based on some quick number crunching, the fandom is growing by approximately 15-20% annually (nothing spectacular but still enough to make a mark) SOLELY BASED on convention attendance. I haven't checked other routes like furry website registration counts or polls yet. In ten years, I can picture it being at least as popular as comic con. I think it's more to do with people "coming out" in a way and revealing that they're furry. Eventually, we'll hit a peak percentage of the population when there are simply no more individuals who are either A: Willing to divulge their position, or B: are not actually furries at heart.

Little do most people know that humanity has been anthropomorphizing things throughout our whole history. From the Egyptian gods, to cartoon characters, and to advertising campaigns with talking inanimate objects.

Most people just don't really know about the good side of the community and only hear about the negative due to the media. As Uncle Kage puts it we need to explain people that we are cartoon animal enthusiasts.

As for the overall acceptance of the fandom, I hope that we will be accepted into the mainstream soon!
