So apparently Minecraft is meant for kids...?

One thing I’ve come across is that Minecraft seems to be getting a lot of hate across the gaming sphere, but why?
Well, many of the ‘perfectly-well-thought-out' arguments I've seen include the following:
"OMG dis bloky graphix sux lolorz terrible gaem!"
"It doesn’t has story so Minecraft has nothing to do lol."
"GTA V clearly haz betar open world an graphix lawl."
"This game is for kids lol who wud play dis shiet how is it betar than Halo omg lol."
CLEARLY words from intelligent and respectable gaming genius! Ahem, but all blatantly obvious sarcasm aside, every one of these comments is wrong. Also idiotic, but everyone is entitled to their opinion, even if entitled morons ruin human society… But anyway, to the point!
First off, a game can only be better than another pureply based on one’s own personal taste. Someone who’s into racing games but hates 3D Platform games might like the Mario franchise for Mario Kart, but would dislike games like Super Mario 64, yes?
Second, if one hates Minecraft, or any game just because it doesn’t look like real life through a window, or doesn’t play realistically? One is an ignorant child spoiled by years worth of unoriginal modern AAA games.
What makes Minecraft so great is the fact that it’s completely open world, procedurally generated every time you load a new world. This means that very single world you spawn in is massive, randomly generated, always different. Every adventure you go on is one you make. Every building and monument is your creation. The whole world is sculptable clay that you can mold into a world and a story of adventure, and one can even make actual art with it. It’s completely open world with no rules, no story, no limitations set by graphical quality or anything else that keeps even some of today’s best AAA titles from becoming timeless classics. It’s new, it’s unique, it’s varied, and it has infinite potential.
There are infinite possibilities in every randomly generated world of Minecraft, there will always be new places to explore, new things to build, and Survival mode makes the effort put into something feel more worth it with creepers waiting around every corner. Modded the game easily lasts three limes longer than GTA V or even Skyrim, plus more.
That’s what makes Minecraft so great. It isn’t another 1080p-obssessed, grey, boring, AAA artsy-fartsy game trying so hard to be a movie it shits out generic and boring gameplay. The shooting gameplay in GTA V was done before, by GTA IV and several other games. Cover-based shooting has been done since Gears of War. Minecraft on the other hand is unique, different, refreshing, and original. The industry needs more like it.
As for whether or not it’s meant for kids, well… It IS kid friendly in that it doesn’t have a story about criminals robbing banks or being stranded on an island with a psychotic mercenaries.
But y’know what? Everytime I see someone say ‘This game is for kids,’ it reminds me of that one old Cheerios commercial where a mother buys her little girl a bunch of cerals like Fruit Loops, Cocoa Puffs, Lucky Charms, etc. So the toddler girl runs around pointing at each ceral going ‘THATS FOR BABIEZ!’ until she comes to the bland, tasteless original cardboard flavor Cheerios and says “O I liek this!”
Nothing makes someone look more childish than trying too hard to be an adult, because if you ask any adult the question of ‘What do you miss the most about your life?’ The answer is almost always ‘My childhood.’ Most might think they’d reply with their 20s when they partied all the time, but honestly, who actually remembers the party after getting piss drunk, passing out and waking up in a bathtub full of ice with a missing kidney?

FA+

I would play it now but I see every little gremlin nowadays has Minecraft shirts or merchandise and I really don't want to do what they do
Hehe, it's still okay to enjoy or support something and not walk around with it plastered all over you. x3 After all, being gay I support gay equality but I don't have a red shirt with a pink equals sign on it. xP
I dont have at least any subjective reasons to hate Triple A games, (mainly because Im going to work at one xD), but Minecraft isnt based for kids, yes kids have a great imaginitive mindset but I dont think a kid could make Isle of Modor just by using simple blocks, it takes years of "innovation". Why I quoted innovation is there is no innovative ideas anymore in gaming its either rehashed, recycled, or even reused. Its more of "Hey lets make this title but make it even better" simplicity at its best. Is Minecraft fun? Yes. Yes it is. No doubt. Its what you make it, what makes it great. Tbh. Though you need a strong imaginitive mind to play it. XD I dont have that.
But then comes Minecraft. No other game like it at the time of release, no story, no limitations other than one's own imaginaiton, just whatever one makes. We need more games like Minecraft.
These days there's too much vs. Xbox vs Playstation, GTA vs Saints Row, Halo vs Call of Duty, etc. The best thing Minecraft can be compared to is Terraria, which is pretty much a 2D version of Minecraft. Minecraft, as a modern game is a fantastic anomaly, a testament to what creative developers can do. Which is one reason why I'm looking forward to No Man's Sky.
