Real Life Health Care

Ol' Foxboy got scared Wednesday evening and shook a long time. My RL typist was walking home from the public library, and he always gets dizzy and can't walk straight. He got grabbed by a passing EMT and stuffed in a scary noisy ambulance, then had to stay in hospital until he finally escaped Friday afternoon.
Anyway, I got scared because my typist wasn't around, and paws are clumsy to open kibble bags. I had to rip it open with my carnassials, and it made a mess on the kitchen floor. I knew my typist was really OK because he's been getting dizzy for over thirty years when he pushes his physical activity and he's still around, so no real health problems.
My question to any workers in human health care is, does a US adult citizen have a right to refuse treatment? He can't keep a job because of falling down, so no income, no savings, no insurance. My typist is pretty upset he was kept against his wishes and basically forced to get drugs pumped into him. The cop in the ER said he wasn't allowed to leave, even when he tried to walk out.
I don't understand US healthcare. I get a cut, I just lick it and it heals in a few days. If I feel sick I just curl up in my fox bed till it goes away. Any help for my typist would be appreciated. Hugs, cuddles, milk and cookies on the porch. Thanks.
