MLP: S4 finale

There is an opinion ahead, that is mostly negative. Turn back now, if you do not wish to read such things.
Now, I took my time to actually watch season four. I was not particularly thrilled and it did not invoke the usual wonder and joy that previous seasons have, much to my disappointment.
But the last episode, "Twilights Kingdom" gave me some open questions, that I would simply like to bring up.
Why was it called "Twilights Kingdom"? She did not recieve a Kingdom, merely a very out of place castle within ponyville. The show writers could have easily given her a kingdom within the borders of Equestria, perhaps a small one as the Crystal Empire is. I do not understand this decision. "A Princesses purpose" or even simply "The power of Friendship" would have easily suited as a title, instead of this rather misleading one.
Why did Tirek not know of Twilight, but of Cadence? It was established that Tirek had been imprisoned before Lunas banishment, and it makes sense he knew of Celestia and Luna, as they were the ones responsable. However, Cadence was pretty much established to not have had an involvement, nor a lifespan like the two sisters. If Tirek, in his time of freedom until this episode, had figured out that Cadence existed, due to the Crystal Empire, then he would have easily found out about Twilight, who got a coronation, a parade, had saved the two princesses as they disappeared (The moon and sun standing in the sky at the same time must have been a hint at them missing. Tirek can not be this dumb.) and who was present at various events as well. A Princess, useful or not, should be spoken of. Esspecially one who was once Celestias personal student.
Why did the Alicorns give Twilight all her magic, instead of doing something beforehand? Tirek was weak, but Celestia, instead of handeling this together with Discord, sent him alone. I do not see why, Tirek would have not been able to absorb her magic in that state of being. In fact, why didn't the three alicorns team up to destroy him, using Discord as a way to find him? It was clear he could not harm Discord until he had gotten powerful enough. Every decision made seemed unlogical to me, merely serving the purpose to get the most powerful ponies out of the way, so that Twilight could have her moment.
Also, giving Twilight the magic merely postponed the entire thing. What was she to do with this, wait until Tirek got bored? Why was she not to tell her friends? This was already a flaw in the Crystal Empire episodes, telling the pony who has overcome all challenges with her friends, to not trust her friends to help her. I do not see the point.
These are the three issues that bug me the most in this episode.
The writing for this season and this episode esspeccially, seemed rather.. uncreative and bland, less like a living breathing world and more like the recital of "what do I need to do, to achieve this point".
I am sorry, I am normally not the person for such rants. I assume it just needed to get out. It saddens me to a degree.

They do this to make show more attractive
If the Princesses have all this power, why do they always outsource the hero duties? Who saved the world before Twilight and her gang of friends came along?
and yes I think twilight's new "kingdom" is ponyville making equestria having 3 princesses and if you look at their names its rather fitting
Celestia the sun Luna the moon and what event occurs between the sun and moon? twilight!
As far as twilight not being found out and Cadence found out is as you said it yourself Crystal Empire. Twilight is the most recent princesses and only two towns/kingdoms really know about twilight. Ponyville and Canterlot. Crystal Empire saw her only once as a princess and was more focused on spike and the games. So its possible twilight fell by the wayside there. as for Canterlot ponies not giving away her location #1 Tirak didn't ask due to he already knew the two princesses there or #2 Canterlot citizens were loyal and did not give up the info
sound reasonable?
Twilights name was already significant in Season one, as the pony that brought Luna and Celestia together again. She was the connection between the two. This does not have to tie in with her logically being the third princess of Equestia, but I, at least personally, had always seen this as a sign of her being the one to replace Celestia and Luna, once they retire. As the connection between the two, not an inclusion to them.
As for Twilights Kingdom. It is never stated at any point. The only thing that is ever brought up, is that she is the princess of friendship, which pardon, is not a kingdom, but a trait to rule over. It is not a Kingdom. Unless the next season confirms that Ponyville is Twilights Kingdom, it is something that is never brought up and Ponyville itself, remains a little town that now has a unfitting castle within it.
Regarding Discord, I do not mind Celestia "testing" him, but this needs to happen when the life of everyone is not in danger.
Just like with the Crystal Empire, Celestia sent in someone who she was not sure who would succeed, regardless of all the lifes at stake. The difference to the Crystal Empire, was that Twilight had proven she can actually handle things, whilst Discord had not proven this. Celestia was simply acting reckless, to not go along with Discord. I have so far seen Celestia only act once for her supposed land and she could have easily teamed up with Discord against Tirek at that point. There was no need for her to send him alone, as there was no need for her not to handle and no need for her to bestow Twilight with her powers. If she had just lifted her hind once and had actually done something, she could at least be taken as responsable. They could have easily written Discord betraying her with her there and she would have looked infinitaly less dumb in her decisions.
Last but not least, Twilight not being known: Again, she got a parade. You would expect, that a coronation, where so many ponies are invited is at least noticed. Even if Tirek hadn't known that it was Twilight who was the princess, he should have known of a fourth princess. The Equestria games seemed like a very important event as well, and while the episode focused on Spike, this does not mean that Twilight was left unoticed as she was apparently important enough to recieve her own seat.
as far as Tirek not knowing about twilight I'm gonna stick to my guns with this. He was locked away in tartus for who knows how long wich at that time if I remember correctly, he only knew about 2 princesses. When he got out as he traveled he heard about the "new" princess, coronation and all. He did not get a name but due to Cadence being new to him and ruling an Empire he put 2 and 2 together figuring out Cadence is the "new" princess. Anyways that's my thought on the matter
You're definitely not the only one who feels the same about that. Even some people who liked the Finale were really confused at Celestia's actions.
As for Twilight and the others not being recognized with consistency for their actions, I think the show has often overblown the premieres and finales even at Season 1. They have huge events and then go for slice-of-life with the occasional action-oriented episode in the middle of the seasons. I'm not saying this excuses them from doing it over and over again though. It's just something I noticed.
I don't think season 4 was all that bad. It gave a lot of world-building in the right direction. Manehatten was one example, even if it did look a bit unpopulated at times. (I.E. I know a lot of people remember the section Applejack was in when she was a filly. I like to think that area was similar to the older sections of Time Square in New York.) I think the biggest problem I had with this season was that they tried to shoehorn all six main characters in several episodes when simply one or two of them would have done just fine. The main characters being put in small supporting roles made them seem weak or even ended up putting them on comedy gag duty.
