I've been to so many cons and stayed at so many hotels (all of them sub-par in my opinion) I always pack a ridiculous amount just so I'm comfortable. But I guess my mainstays that many people don't think of are:
washable cups. I more often than not eat out when I go to cons, and the take out places usually sell drinks by the liter, or those big massive party-bottles of soda. More often than not, they don't give you cups. More often than not, you get maybe 4 wrapped coffee cups courtesy of the hotel for coffee, but thats it. I bring plastic cups with me that can be rinsed out and used for the duration of our stay.
I also bring my own box of tissues. at hotels, tissues double for everything, napkins, to clean up messes, makeup, just plain old blow your nose, or mop up condensation from ice water in bottles. I claim my box as my own until the hotel box runs out, and then I share.
At least 6 hours of sleep, 2 meals, 1 shower (probably more if you're a suiter)
all of those things are important and some people tend to have so much excitement at a con they forget these vital things, often end up sick, or stinky lol.
And of course staying hydrated is also important.
Don't go to a con if you can't afford essentials.
I'd also mention for fursuiters, don't just throw your suit down after wearing it, hang it up, spray it with alcohol/water solution, let it dry
Same with head, feet, ect. Leaving it all sweaty on the floor will let bacteria and mold grow, EW.
Definitely mentioning the 6-2-1 rule, thank you for reminding me! Also yeah, there's probably a lot of firsttime suiters who get their suit at the con and don't know how to keep it clean yet. Thanks!
