This Is the Final Condition
Wiser people than us have said it before, "All good things must come to an end". With that in mind, don't worry, we will not go quietly into the night! (Yes that's a shameless one liner from Independence Day)
This all started in 2009. Cola, Frost and Cajun were sitting around tossing out crazy ideas when they came to the realization that Ontario didn't have any hotel based furry conventions! There was Feral(The best con ever) but that was in the woods, this con would be in a hotel.
We decided it wouldn't be just any con, if we were gonna do it we were gonna go all out. There would be parties for everyone, activities that you didn't find at just any con like assassin games, Nerf tournaments, karaoke and booze…
...lots of booze!
Word spread fast, then other cons started appearing that same year, we knew it was going to be a lot of work, but we went for it anyway.
So we dove in head first. We managed to put together a small convention in the city of London Ontario, with only a handful of staff members. The intent was to see if we could succeed, and we did! The success of the first year didn't come without mistakes and lessons but we pushed on, corrected what needed to be corrected and did what made sense to us; we listened to our attendees.
In the years following, we improved, correcting old mistakes, making new ones and throwing a great party along the way. We continued to strive, offering things very few other cons had: the assassin games, the pool party, the booze in the sponsor lounge, home cooked food instead of catered. And talk about talent, we pulled in some truly talented people for our Guests of Honour, some were immediately invited out to larger cons after appearing at ours.
To this day, despite it's more remote location, many people agree we managed to throw one of the best hotel conventions in Canada.
It is now however, time for all of this to end.
When we set out, our initial idea was to run the convention for a set number of years: 4 was the initial number, covering a small story arc. We sold special arc badges the first year good for 4 years at the con, covering Condition Zero Hour, Red, Blue and Wasteland...but we couldn't stop there, we knew we had to do a 5th year and wrap everything up so here we are!
However, we are not sad. We've done what we set out to do. At the end of Condition VS The Monsters, we'll have run a great convention for five years. We have raised tens of thousands of dollars for the Salthaven Wildlife Rescue, breaking furry con records in donation amount per attendee.
We showed that a con can have a theme, a storyline, be interactive as well as being fun and silly along the way.
Changes in all of our lives recently have led us to decide that we will end our saga with the 5th convention in our series: Condition vs. The Monsters. With no reason to save anything for next year, you can believe we'll be pulling all the stops!
At this point, we'd like to address some questions before they even come up.
Is it ending because of drama within the senior staff?
•Not at all. we're still all close friends, this has never changed.
Is it ending because of the hotel?
•No, the Four Points here in London is an amazing hotel, we have a great relationship with them and would continue to host the convention here if we could. They had gone as far as drafting a contract for next year, that's how much they loved us.
Are you going to slack off because it's the last year?
•Heck no! If anything this year will be bigger than ever! We don't need to save anything for next year so this will be the party to end it all!
Why didn't you mention this sooner?
•The concept had been tossed around before, however we wanted to make certain we were all on the same page. So we took a good long time making the final decision.
Why tell us Now?
•We've seen other conventions announce they are retiring at closing ceremonies then just quietly disappearing. We wanted to give everyone the chance to experience Condition one last time and let people know this will be the biggest party yet!
To all of you who have been a part of Condition in the past, whether you've been a guest, attended, volunteered, staffed, been a dealer, seen our videos or even just watched on in confusion, we'd like to give you our heartfelt thanks. We couldn't have done any of this without you. You’re the ones we did all this for and we are grateful.
So on that note, we'd like to invite you to join us, one last time this summer for the very last Condition.

Thank you for the years I was able to go! Me and my mate enjoyed it and appreciate all of the time and work that went into it.
so many good memories
meet the most amazing furs and am still friends with them now
3 years ago condition was my very first con ever and first time I made a fursuit and fursuited that's what got me to love going to cons and fursuiting
I want to thank you frostscar for everything you had done for this con
I will never forget this con
sadly I am not going this year for their final year.
it saddens me deeply to see this ending.
I do hope the concept of convention's with storylines catches on though.
