Post-Anthrocon stuff
11 years ago
Let me begin this by thanking all of you for being awesome. I sold every single one of the art show pieces I brought. It was an absolutely amazing first Anthrocon art show experience. I love you guys <3
It was also the best AC I've had yet! Not that there's much competition, the last couple of years I've had some bad personal stuff going on that kind of got in the way of enjoying anything, but there was no such problem this time, thankfully. I was a bit sad that I didn't finish my bobcat partial in time to frolic in it, but NEXT YEAR, it's happening. Maybe by then it'll even be a full suit. Anything can happen.
I played lots of games, bought lots of art, and awkwardly flailed at some of my favorite artists who probably think I'm really weird now. I got some prints of my favorite pieces from
nambroth and
windfalconart, and a pretty gryphon sketch from
louvelex. I was heartbroken when I was outbid on a beautiful original by my BFF
kuroseishin who is the best artist ever. I'll have to defend my bids better next year. :(
The biggest highlights of the con were finally getting to participate in a Paranoia game run by the amazing
xavierfoxshandi, who runs that game better than any other person in the world, and getting to spend time with
ebayle and
floh, who are really excellent people and I will miss them terribly even though I talk to them on a regular basis anyway I guess. There were many other awesome people that I enjoyed seeing but if I try to list them all I know I'll end up forgetting some and then I'll feel like a jerk and I don't think I know all their FA names anyway so HELLO IF I HUNG OUT WITH YOU THIS WEEKEND I PROBABLY <3 YOU BECAUSE YOU WERE ALL GREAT! YAY! Local friends included because of course I always <3 you guys.
Apparently I was pretty hard to find, next year I think I'll have a badge with "dinobutt" on it instead of just my character names. I didn't get to meet as many new people as I would have hoped, but I did run into
wintersnowolf briefly who made me a gorgeous badge and was super nice and adorable and I wish we could have hung out some more! Conventions are way too short to adequately enjoy all the people.
The only thing that wasn't awesome was the frustration of trying to arrange meals when Pittsburgh pretty much shuts down the entire city on weekends and I have really inconvenient dietary restrictions and nowhere to store my own food. Also, the meal guide was awful and half the places on there weren't even open. Next year I think it might be better to get a room and prepare a bunch of food in advance to store in a cooler there or something. If anyone else who can't have gluten has tips for staying fed at conventions in cities where the only food options are questionable at best, please share. ;_;
Also I apologize if I was awkward, I get easily overwhelmed by large groups of people and I'm kind of shy so if I did or said anything weird please pretend it didn't happen. >_>
There, that's the closest thing to a con report anyone is likely to see from me ever. Now to get back to business and start answering emails... Ohgod my poor inbox.

FA+

Having a suit to derp around in will probably make next year even better haha
I'm glad you had a good time, though I agree that the food is definitely an issue - and I don't even have special restrictions! Hopefully you can find some options that work next time.
Sorry it's taken this long to get back to you, only just got back from the US n.n;;
