Out of Commission for another day -RANT--FILLED-
11 years ago
Hey all,
For those of you not in the small loop I apparently have, the past week I was away. I was invited to a friend of a friend's wedding at a small town beach house that took place on July 4th. However; I took off Thursday morning for many reasons; one being to beat any possible traffic instead of any hullabaloo on 4th of July, two that I wanted a spot at the beach house to bunk with my buds so I didn't have to rent out a motel/hotel room, and three being I was two other peep's ride to and throe (or at least for one of my driving buddies). The wedding went well without too much drama and I got to hang with my buds while admiring the bay window (or backyard) view of the beach and ocean horizon (better than tv when there is none). The only gripe I can give (other than wishing I had brought an extra pillow) was the bed arrangements. It was between a too soft or too firm mattress, but that didn't matter because without an extra pillow the only one I brought did zilch to support my neck and back. And it squeaked every time I moved so tossing and turning was announced promptly to others while I tried to sleep.
And to make matters suck harder; I caught a cold the day before Thursday. I picked up on it rather quickly and bought some Zicam and drank plenty of Vitamin C juices, making the days I was at the beach house bearable. But I guess this cold is a late bloomer (or troll) because after I got home Saturday afternoon I became drowsy and achy. And then Sunday morning it kicked my tail with heavy stuffy nose and a bad cough...and I had to work that day too.
AND; work kicked my ass just as hard with none of my associates doing anything with large orders they took in since THURSDAY...which left me to complete as much as I could SUNDAY for a MONDAY morning pickup. And along with that, my cold dragging me over the floor like a mop, and some communication inconsistencies between my associates and customers... I came THIS CLOSE to breaking down again. I did try to contact anyone that was willing to cover the rest of my shift Sunday. However; one was out of town, one never contacted us back, and my lead that has stated I could call her anytime I was in need of help had gotten sick around the same time I did bed ridden since Thursday. In fact; half the associates in my store Sunday were sick as dogs like me. It was an epidemic here. But I'm still miffed at my associates; only Lead and I had gotten sick, the other two were working Thursday to Saturday. What the F*$^ were they doing during their shifts to leave such large orders unintended!
And finally; just to add to my stress for a short more time, I get a notice from my Medical Insurance about needing to pay my current monthly bill....DUE JUNE 30th!!!! NOW THEY FINALLY GET ME A DAMN MAILING STATEMENT!?!?!?!? FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU......
*clears throat* Actually; I had paid my June bill online July 1st when my Auto Pay option never went through, and after talking to a HUMAN ASSISTANCE at their hospital about never receive any notices about my monthly payment until NOW and the troubles I had trying to do so Online two weeks before, the assistance cleared up that I had no penalties for paying a day late AND that I am 1 of 1000's upon 1000's of people who had the same problems I had since the Obamacare/CA Covered switch occurred earlier this year. So that's at least one mess I sorted out.
But still...FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU....
And last night *starts laughing manically* My Vixen Goddess, what the hell throat? What do you want from me??? I've been drinking my OJ and keeping you hydrated. I even took NyQuil as a last resort. But NOOOOOOO!!! I had to deal with a cough to end all coughing fits for three hours straight. And to make matters worse (yes, still worse) our weather here sucks...or my bedroom temperature sucks...or my mattress and sheets...or my body...IT Was UNBEARABLY HOT!!! Is KNOWING coming true? Are we all going to die a solar flare fiery death??? I did have both the window and fan on, but I couldn't keep it on too high because...get this...when I was too hot I had to sleep without sheets. But after awhile, it got TOO COLD and I had to cover myself again. And then it got too hot. and then too cold...and too hot again. and then TOO COLD again!!! And my mattress was drenched in sweat. And....Uh....GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
*Falls back in bed about to pass out* ...I want this cold and cough to DIE!!!!!
Anyways; the point of my long rant is to let you all know what happened to me in my latest disappearance and that I may not be coming back to chat for at least one more day. I just really want to go back to bed and try to get some hours of sleep without coughing up a lung like last night.
I really hope your July 4th weekend went better than mine. Pray that I live.

And the nerve of your associates; I make a point of finishing ALL my work before I goof around, and even then, I'm on-call all the time. Still, I've had worse...Try being the ONLY retail store on a strip (INCLUDING a large grocery store next door, an Acme) that is open during a HURRICANE. That I had hours in. Woo, four hours of reading the Enquirer.
But yeah, I wish your cold withers away and dies, my feline friend. I hate to hear someone's feeling bad.
