In a nutshell, financial pressures are quickly becoming too much to bare. I had initially planned to spend the next month writing Two Weeks and The Vacant Years exclusively, but that's just not feasible. I'm at an in-pass here: either I find a way to pay my bills using this community and my writing (my vastly preferred scenario), or I'll have to take a full time job, finish what commissions I have, and quit writing for the foreseeable future. I'm considering a handful of options to increase my revenue here, the most promising of which is Patreon, but I thought I'd talk to you guys here and see what you all think. I'm still working out the details, but here's a simple illustration of what kind of things I'd be offering to my Patreon Subscribers:
• Early access to stories: I will upload all commissioned work for my Patreon subscribers to read thirty days earlier than I’ll upload them to furaffinity (Commissioners, of course, still get their stories as soon as I complete it.)
• Edited and formatted stories: EVERYTHING I upload to furaffinity is, has always been, and will always be raw, unedited, unformatted text. In addition to reading my stories a month earlier, Patreon subscribers will also get a vastly superior copy of the story, professionally edited and formatted and uploaded as a PDF.
• My Personal Work: Patreon subscribers will gain exclusive access to any and all personal furry stories I write twelve months earlier than they’ll be seen on furaffinity.
• My novels: If I go live on Patreon, neither Two Weeks nor The Vacant Years will be uploaded into the public domain. Only Patreon subscribers will be allowed to read the story as it’s written. I’ll also offer the completed, edited novels for sale as a complete text once they’re finished. For everyone else (except the commissioner, of course) the novel will be uploaded at a rate of one chapter per month, starting one year after it’s been completed.
• Monthly story raffle: All subscribers will be entered to win a monthly story raffle that will be treated as a commission.
• Audiobooks: Every month I’ll upload 2-3 audiobook recordings of my most popular stories, or chapters of my novels, voiced by yours truly. Might do something where people get to vote on what story they want to get recorded. We’ll see how it goes.
• Writing Workshops: I’ll be offering a monthly workshop for anyone who wants to watch.
Mind you, this is all just stuff I've had in mind of late. If you're interested, please let me know in the comments. I really need feedback on this sort of stuff. I'm thinking a fair subscription fee might be about 5$ USD per month (That's less than 1,000 words from me on commission), but I'm very open to suggestions. Would you like to support me while I do what I can to make the world a more enjoyable (and crinkly) place for all of us?

I'm constantly terrified I'll forget it exists, and something like that could throw me into the hole with bills.
I might buy a copy of Two Weeks, just because I really liked it so far, but the Patreon thing wouldn't be something that I would be able to do
I hope it works out for you though! I'd much rather see you continue writing than take a full time job like I had to do
I do think it's a good idea for what's being offered
If I can start doing some more commissions, I'd hope that I'd be able to sign up at some point in the future!
Just wanted to say, the two options may not be mutually exclusive.
I think making stories such as two weeks which is already well established here Patreon only, will simply hurt your watchers here. You cant build up a fanbase somewhere and then pull the rug out from under them....well...you can but expect people to be upset. Thats like me throwing shine and found out for free then expecting people to pay for the final 20 pages. I could do it but it would be like holding people to ransom and would probably make people lose respect for me in the process.
Sadly im not sure I want to sign up to patreon, and I would certainly read the small print before you commit to anything as a lot of it details the percentages that Patreon take off of you. for me as im in the UK I think by the time Patreon and then the tax office had their way I would actually only be making something like 20 cents out of every dollar pledged so it really wasnt worth my effort to even contemplate a patreon. As its a US based company you will probably have a bit more in your pocket at the end of it, but certainly not all of it.
Finally, even I cant sustain myself on just my artwork/stories/comics I have a job and work on art/fun stuff after work is finished. Getting a job might suck, but you'll be surprised what opportunities open up for you when you're working and what new things you learn and different life experiences you have as a result.
Basically, good luck, you should certainly try giving it a go and do what you think is best for you really
sorry for being a downer, but it's the harsh truth. good luck in everything, though, and hopefully you'll still be able to continue your passion. i know for a fact that many people, myself included, are cheering you on and patiently await your next stories.
That said, I'd definitely support a Patreon if it was created.
I would also like to add that having reliable income is a great source of creative freedom because you don't have to worry as much about bills and thus your free time is all the much more enjoyable.
