Lately I've noticed that when getting my character drawn out, I let it appear far too close to the character used as reference. Because of this discovery, I have begun to redesign her. Once I have all I need to change, I will see to it that the changes are drawn out by a very patient artist. Hopefully this won't take all the money I have to do it, but I really do not want to be accused of plagiarism and being unoriginal just because my character looks too much like the reference I used.
