Ravens suffer more than a chance at Super Bowl
17 years ago
Well, the AFC Championship game came and went. The Baltimore Ravens faced off against the Pittsburgh Steelers one final time to determine who makes it to the Super Bowl to play against the Arizona Cardinals. As expected, the Ravens held their own against the Steelers' line of defense during the first half of the game. Upon the second half, McGahee scored a 1-yard TD bringing their score up to 14, which would have given them a chance to score ahead of Pittsburgh during the remaining fourth quarter, had they been able to keep the momentum going. At 3:29 remaining on the clock in the fourth quarter, Willis McGahee suffered a bad neck injury as a result of a helmet-to-helmet collision with Steelers' safety Ryan Clark. McGahee was taken off the field strapped to a stretcher and carted into the locker room, leaving the Ravens to finish out a game that presumably belonged to the Steelers from that point on, thanks to another 40-yard touchdown from an intercepted Flacco pass into the waiting hands of Troy Polamalu. The Steelers finished out the game 23-14, leaving the Ravens no chance to keep up.
Reports are unsure as of yet how bad the neck injury is, but so far McGahee is able to talk coherently and move his arms and legs, so that's a sure sign that he will be alright.
The Pittsburgh Steelers will be going on to face the Arizona Cardinals at the Super Bowl, while the Ravens will return from Heinz Field broken, defeated, and determined for next year's games. As for Willis McGahee, my thoughts and prayers are with him for a steady and safe recovery. You gave it your best shot out there, and now you can use your down time to recover comfortably.
Good job, Ravens. Although you guys won't be making the Super Bowl, you still gave it your best, and I was indeed impressed with your performance this year.

FA+

However, the Ravens impress me. Sounds like they put up quite a battle.
You did great this year, Ravens---really great!
I also heard update from Willis McGahee's condition. Fortunately, he did not suffer a broken neck, rather, it was badly sprained. McGahee will be in recovery for the next few days for observation and re-evaluation before returning back to his daily routine back home. Get well soon, Willis!
As for the Super Bowl, I can already tell you who's going to win as well...Steelers will walk all over the Cardinals, plucking their feathers out as they do it. Holding a bit of a grudge against Pittsburgh for their multiple victories over the Ravens, not to mention having lived close enough to Arizona when I lived in SoCal, I will still have to root for the Cardinals...but I know Steelers will take the Vince Lombardi home and place it among their growing collection. Makes me sick just thinking about the forthcoming game and how the Cards will fare. All I can hope for is that the Cardinals have a standing chance to score at least one touchdown. Would be great if they won, but the odds are stacked against them by a long shot, and winning the Super Bowl is something that does not look too bright for Arizona.
But we will soon see just how this game will go over for both teams. If Arizona gets real lucky and play smart and plan out every single one of their plays accordingly, there could be a chance for the big red bird after all. Wouldn't that be something to write home about if they did win? Not only their first time entering the Super Bowl, but to also win their first year...something I'm sure each team member will be dreaming about the night before the big game.
Good luck Cardinals, and may the best team win!
STEELERS FOR THE WIN....
