Elite: Dangerous, and A Continuing Pursuit of Art.

The future of space sim games seems bright. On one side, we have arcadey space sims such as Wings of Saint Nazaire, Enemy Starfighter, and Dreadnought, while on the more immersive and serious side we have Star Citizen, No Man's Sky, and one that has made a pretty fucking huge blip on my radar (Aside from Dreadnought), Elite: Dangerous. This game, E:D, so far from what videos I've seen of its gameplay, looks like the EVE Online I've always wanted to play. That said, I have been curious weather or not its worth paying the extra money to gain access to its beta, when the release date for the game itself is slated for anytime between now and December, this choice compounds itself with the fact the game itself is almost in a finished state in the current beta stage of the game. But this is like, an extra amount of money for what is essentially a DEMO of a game. ...But goddamn, it is one mighty fine and tasty looking demo. Now, I wouldn't even have a question of doubt or thought of remorse if this game was the dream game I've always wanted, but thats a whole new story entirely.
Speaking of stories, my mental and physical health conditions are slowly improving here at the homefront. Family is slowly pulling itself together again, family vehicles are getting fixed up and repaired after some busted parts decided to finally break themselves and cause some collateral damage. Lots of bad details I won't go on about there. But aside from that, I have been making as many personal strides as I can to continue improving my mental condition about keeping my mind exercised and my artistic muse thoroughly stimulated. A recent anime I've picked up, by the suggestion of a number of friends, was Kill La Kill. At first, it wasn't really my cuppa tea. But after a while it started to rub off on me, and I'm starting to like it. Its a bit crazy. Its like one of those spaz-tastic anime's that gives you very little itme to absorb whats going on, and the moment it stops to take a breath it goes back into a crazy pace. I can understand some people love this kind of shit, but I am someone who loves the slow and deliberate pace of certain anime (Gundam, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Ghost in the Shell) that truly builds the atmosphere of actions by characters, protagonist and antagonist alike, to such a level the tension is practically palpable. Bah. I can never be so easily pleased. :V
But besides all that, I'm doing better, and finding myself doing more art and more art streams, which I hope to see all of my wonderful and amazing watchers in! Which, by the way, all of you guys are amazing. Thank you so much for taking such an interest in my work, I truly appreciate it. I also noticed I am coming close to 30,000 page views and I just passed 1900 watchers. Holy shit! XD. Once the big 30k pageview and 2k watchers milestones happen I'll give you all a delicious thank you. ;o~
But until then, see you guys, and enjoy the lovely robo-tits and lizard-robot-things, and stuffs. :>

As an Elite: Dangerous beta participant, I can tell you it is one of the greatest games I have ever played. I played EVE online for 7 years, and Elite is everything like that plus more. There is still a lot of work that needs to be done to Elite though, so it will be a while before it's actually released.

Would you say its worth it to opt into the beta, then?

Well, it depends. Some areas still need work. What all did you want to do the most in game?

Honestly? Haul stuff and ocassionally take a combat ship out for a spin and do some bounty-hunting.

That's what I mainly do. For trading and occasional fighting, it's great! I've been enjoying it since I started. Like I said earlier though, there's still some work that needs to be done (like.... no tutorials yet), but I'm still satisfied with it.

As someone that still has his 3.5 inch floppies of Wing Commander 2 in the basement...The whole crop of sims but arcade and simulator are just lovely. I am looking forward to Star Citizen, no mans sky, and Elite. I am hoping to that middle ground, Much like Arcade/Sim game like Tie Fighter comes back up! Oh those were good times! :D.

For that feel I highly recommend looking at ENEMY STARFIGHTER and Wings of Saint Nazaire.
