On mods and other (DRAMATIC) matters

Sage and I discussed, among other things, appointing some moderators for our image board. And some other things, based on a journal he had up for awhile and then deleted.
Basically we discussed how he, without really intending to, had let me play the bad guy. The truth is we decided how things would be run on the board the day we started discussing making an anonib. "We'll ban you if we feel like it" was always going to be one of the rules from hour one of day one.
Thing is, Sage wants to be well-liked. This is not news to anyone that knows him even a little bit. I'm not slamming him over this or anything, I'm just getting to the point of it. There's nothing on the ban message to say who placed the ban, just the message for why it was placed. It was easy enough for Sage to sit back and let the assumption be that I was placing every ban there was. All he had to do was say "I don't control Sechs" when people complained... which is true, he doesn't, and I really don't think he meant it the way it came off as.
Yeah, I hand out quite a few bans. But they're usually for blatant stupidity. Someone posting "lol bush suxxorz" on the furry porn board or people calling me a stupid hateful cunt are kind of moronic things to do. I pay for the hosting and put up with the aggravation of the GDFB for my and Sage's own amusement. It's not a service to the community, I'm not doing it out of the kindness of my heart, it's not because I think there should be a place like it... it is my and Sage's own little sandbox, and if you don't like that or don't like how we run it, tough titties. Get your own fucking sandbox. Or sit around in someone else's complaining about our sandbox. Enjoy your smell of urine.
I am not a "professional", I am not trying to be "professional" about running a fucking image board. I make no money off of it, I'm beholding to no one else, and it began on the back of furry and cartoon porn. How goofy a fuck do you have to be to try and act all Serious Business about that? We've had outbreaks of Serious Business on the board, sometimes in the interests of trying to be fair, but fairness is a privilege in my sandbox, not a right.
But anyway. I'm tired of being the pet ogre and playing Bad Cop all the time, especially having to try and put up with a couple of particular trolls who like to snicker and sneer because I don't act as courteous and polite as possible to them in the face of their insults, trolling, and abuse. I'm tired of people being too cowardly to talk to me about their concerns, and justifying it by just outright stating all I'd do is go "lolno DIAF". I'm tired of people bitching at Sage because of some perception of me, and though again I know this wasn't his intention, I'm tired of Sage's responses and rhetoric turning me into this ravening, slobbering beast about to fly into a frenzied rage at the slightest provocation that he has no connection to or influence over while he remains utterly unconnected to the operations of the board.
Having got all that drama bullshit tossed out there for the enjoyment of the trolls, I'll get to the point: over the next few days, we're going to be appointing some new moderators... just a couple to cut down on some of the problems we're having with ban evaders and so on. (Best way to prove you deserved a ban? Hop on a proxy and bitch about your ban.) So while I doubt this will make a difference in me being the Furry Imageboard Boogiebitch, if you get banned from now on... it's probably not me. Because I'm going to take a break from the hassle and let some other people take the heat for awhile. I started the board to have a place to post porn and various discussions without wading through twenty times the threads of "lol chimpy mcbushitler" and "NIGGERS JEWS BAD NEWS" and splitting things into twenty different categories based on silly personal preferences and stupid drama. It'll continue to be that.
Anyway, board regular Hiro will become the first of these mods. Sage and I have a fairly short list of some of the regulars we'll probably be talking to this week. Do not expect the Freehaven inquisition.

I should stop being a tard and post sometimes when I browse your board, seems like some nice people (and stupid trolls, but you get them everywhere.) and a good little community you two have made.
Hope your appointment of mods makes it easy for you, receiving retarded bullshit from butthurt people doesn't sound fun =P
Hiring mods is a good idea. I also need to visit the board more myself.
Adding a few moderators sounds like it'd be a good idea for sure, and I fully support the move. I hope that once some of the burden of enforcing the rules is lifted off of yours and Sage's shoulders people will come to better appreciate the work you put into the GDFB.

It's not something I intentionally tried to do, really. But now that I'm aware of having done it (thanks to a lengthy chat with Sechs), I'm doing my best to keep from doing it from now on.
