so I finally finished the suit I was building. I decided that I wanted to get a little practice walking around so I took it onto campus (Mississippi State University) and walked around the Student Union. I was not sure what kind of reaction I was going to get. Here is a synopsis of my experience.

so to avoid having to carry the suit into the union and put it on in the bathroom, I suited up in the parking lot. This was at night but it is August in MS, so it was still quite warm out. Luckily the parking lot was close.

I only spent about 45 minutes in suit. I feel like I could have gone longer, especially if I had not had to suit up outside. BUT, it was enough to get a sort of "feel" for the suit. I also managed NOT to fall down the stairs in the union. That was a plus.

The reactions were varied but I didnt have too many negative reactions. I did scare 2 sorority girls though. I felt so bad. :P But the rest of the people were cool. Some people walked up and asked about the suit, why I was wearing it etc. Told me "wrong mascot" :P to which I replied that they would sue me if I did a bulldog, and dragons are cooler anyway.

Several people asked for pictures of or with me. I derped up so many selfies. I also met another person who actually knew what a fursuit was because she happened to know a furry that I didnt know. :) I was really expecting a lot more negative reactions due to the fact that we are in MS. I guess the people who had negative things to say probably kept it to themselves. I was glad that I could be entertaining to at least some of the people. Several people were surprised that I built the suit. I even had one girl give me a hug! :) First fursuit hug and I totally failed. i bumped my snout against her forehead by accident. We both just about died laughing. :) She got a few pictures with me. I thought that was cool.

I also got to meet later (out of suit) with some of the people. Everyone I talked to was nice.

Overall, I was nervous at first, but I had fun! I need to practice expressions and stuff too, but that is for another day. :)
