I donated. Ive had this happen to me too. In 2012, 3 months after I bought my house the sewage line clogged and back flooded my fully finished basement with raw sewage. The brand new carpet, bamboo paneling, everything was ruined. Convienently the insurance wouldn't cover it all so I had to fork out almost $7000 to cover what the insurance didnt. I'm still feeling the financial burden from that. So I know exactly what your furend is going through right now and I thought it would be important to help out. It wasn't much but I hope it helps because I've been there before and that sort of thing really sucks. My best wishes go out to your friend.
