3 years of 10 Mil Lamination Auction! Car Accident update
11 years ago
!!3 years of 10 mil lamination including repairs at MFF or Anthrocon, or shipped badges accepted just pay for the shipping!!
As a few of my watchers know, I bought Lagarto Lamination quite a few years ago and have taken up the mantle of being the Laminating Lizard at Anthrocon and MFF annually and now have started taking mail orders. In those years I have helped nearly a thousand people with their first time laminations and rescuing bent/broken badges, breathing new life into them. So to thank you all, and help with the issues written below ~(TLDR) I'm going to be without income next month :(~ I would like to offer a first time ever unlimited lamination for 1 person out there for the next 3 years! For shipped badges I only ask for shipping to be covered (usually about $2ish depending on how many per shipment). This is an excellent opportunity for badge making artists or frequent commissioners to save some serious cash and help me out in a serious time of need. Below I will start a comment with an opening bid, the bidding will close August 30th at midnight central time or 15 minutes after the last comment if a bidding war ensues!
If the auction isn't your thing, single badge lamination is $4-6 usually plus $2 for shipping! It will never bend or break! If you need a repair prices vary depending on what I need to do, most times just an additional $5! And it will look amazing after!!!! Note me for a paypal and shipping address
Please help, I'm not one to beg often, but I see the greatness this community can do. I have a lawyer, but until I heal a settlement is not likely to come any time soon.
CAR ACCIDENT UPDATE and the tricky situation from being out of work
So July 8th I was in a pretty significant accident that nearly totaled my car and seriously damaged my wrists. As a result I have been unable to work for the last month and a half. I feel miserable about the 3 commissions that are waiting to be dremmeled but at the moment my wrists are in braces and in significant pain. Which really sucks because I hate not knowing when they will get better. I am grateful for the paid time off and sick leave I have accrued at my job, which has gotten me this far. However in the last 4 weeks of being off from work my husband have had to get very serious about the reality that I cannot open 100 samples in an hour and be able to return to the lab... Next month the money from work stops coming in because sick leave is exhausted and I am honestly not sure where the money for rent and bills will come from. I would be lying if I said I wasn't scared.
X-Rays have been taken and came back negative. The nature of wrist breaks are if they break they tend to go right back together and are difficult to detect. I am glad that my dominant hand seems to be getting better, but lab work and dremmeling requires two hands for me to do the job the way people deserve. I see an orthopedist that specializes in wrist/hand injuries tomorrow (friday), hopefully he will have more answers than, it could be just a very bad sprain/strain and I don't know when it is going to decide to heal.
The accident wasn't my fault, I was rear ended and the car took 1 month to get fixed back up. It was only $1000 shy of being totaled on a car worth about 10k at this point to give you an idea of the level of holy cow that was a hell of a fender bender. My hands were on the steering wheel and my knee went into the dash board. Fortunately my knee, back, and neck are healing normally and well, which has led me to realize something very serious is going on with my wrists. This case has gotten way bigger than I can manage alone and I have hired a lawyer to help me navigate this and ensure I get the money I need to handle what could be a permanent injury at the young age of 28 :( It's just a mess and I'm going stir crazy with not working at the lab or being able to complete art projects. I have never felt so utterly useless. It's made me seriously think about what am I without art or lab work. My husband has been great about reminding me I am a great wife and helping me fill my days with activities I can do. Scissors work, paper slicers work, lamination and repairing badges is one thing I can do without abusing my wrists... so when I can't work in a lab or work on commissions to the level my commissioners deserve, lamination would give me something to do.
As I said, I have a lawyer, and she is the top lawyer in the county this occurred in. The problem with personal injury cases is, settlements are reached within 60 days of completing treatment for the injury. So when doctors and my body don't have a clue as to when I can succeed at work again without my wrists giving in and throbbing and me wanting to cry, I have no idea when I can be reimbursed for the missed work, co-pays, and medications. When my accrued time off from work is exhausted, I will be covered by FMLA and won't lose my job, but I won't have any more money coming in from work... and as an adult living with a husband focused on paying off his student loans, rent due every month, gas needing to be paid for to get to appointments, it's really frightening. I don't want to take on commissions when I don't know when I can be back to artistic ability, and frankly that would be a dick move on my end when I still have 3 Anthrocon homeworks in the wings. I refuse to be a bad artist or screw those that have trusted me to turn their hard earned money into art. But I do need to do something to keep me secure while I focus on healing. Lamination could do that and this could be a really great opportunity to get your work laminated right the first time or your long list of badges that are tucked away to preserve them as they have bent and are on the verge of falling apart. I can fix them and keep them safe forever.
So please Furaffinity watchers, help me feel a little less scared about all this, please help us get by until this gets resolved. Let me preserve your art forever with something that will not bend or break, have those badges be resilient and keep them the envy of all other con goers!

(I'm sorry about your accident, my heart goes out to you.)
I do however, have one badge. The original was lost in the mail, but i was able to remind the artist to scan it before sending it off, so I have the scan right here on FA. It'd be nice if I could have it for FangCon, and I don't know if anyone will have laminators there..
How much do your single-badge print, laminate, and ship prices run?
Comes with badge clip and slot punch! Plus it will never bend. Note me and I will give you a paypal and shipping address :)
I'm so sorry things are going like this. I don't have anything to laminate right now either. Let me brainstorm with the hubby and see what we can come up with. I do want to help in some way.
*big hug*

What do you think? This might be a big collaborative bonanza if people are interested in badges outside of particular cons! I can make an advertisement and everything : D
make sure you include the shipping and lamination costs when you set your badge prices :) There is a lovely artist that sends me badges frequently to get laminated :)
That was the one thing that I didn't see you said...if you're okay saying it?
I ask too because I might raise this up a bit more at least so I can possibly help, if able to.
