Late August 2014 Journal: Earthquake Wake-Up Call
11 years ago
This will be the same as on other sites, but I have to say it. My job is going well, really well in fact. My dog, Ike got a bath, trim and good brushing from some awesome ladies in my town, my sister came out for a week from Syracuse, NY to visit from grad school too. Oh me and my whole family were woken up by an earthquake that hit us. Since we live in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA it's expected. It was an 6.0 on the Richter magnitude scale, occurred at 3:20am 6 km NW of American Canyon, CA. That's like Sonoma county and almost a good 30 to 45 minutes North of the City by the Bay. It was like a good side-to-side shaking, nothing fell down but everything shifted and shook but not violently though. Lasted somewhere in the neighborhood of about... 5-8 seconds? Scared my poor pup but it's okay for now, aftershocks are predicted. It was almost like the Great Quake of 1906, but that occurred at 5:12am back then and lasted much longer. That's what's bad during a quake, the longer the duration the more damage is done. Working in the CAS (California Academy of Sciences) I should know. Still good morin', one an all.
Thank you for watching me. *hugs*
