Am I excited for Smash Bros. 4?
Short Answer: *rejoices like the N64 Kid*
Long Answer: Super Smash Bros. is a favorite franchise of mine, and that goes for pretty much ANYBODY who likes Nintendo. It might even go for anybody who likes video games period. As simplistic as it was and as low the gravity used to be in the very first Super Smash Bros. for the N64, it was still a very good game we had. It wasn't as competitive or sleek as Melee, and it didn't have a weird roster or features like in Brawl. Of course, for what they were worth, Melee and Brawl were a pretty fun ride, too, even though doubles matches were kind of pushed to the side, especially due to that one match with two teams consisting only of Meta Knight.
Oh, but this one. THIS FUCKING ONE. The speed and gravity are basically on par with Project M(which really suggests Nintendo, Sora, or at the very least Sakurai himself must know about Project M's existence), the roster is a lot more promising, some of the stages look fun as hell to fight in(why does Nintendogs continue to exist!?), the assist trophies look even more awesome, and the weirdest concept for a Smash Bros. character in the history of EVER has been achieved with flying colors. They should've hired a Chinese music composer named Ho Lee Schitt, because the updates just keep getting better and better. Each Monday that goes by is like a mini-Christmas for me! Which only makes the real Christmas more tantilizing...
As for what I think about the Amiibo situation, from a very serious standpoint, I think Amiibo is going to save the Wii U. Not permanent, of course, but it will help. I don't believe Nintendo is necessarily doing some sort of marketing niche Skylanders style. I think they're really just doing this to add more functionality to the Wii U 2015 lineup at large, Smash Bros. 4 included. Yes, I know it's also called SM4SH, but I refuse to type anything remotely similar to l33t sp3@k. Fuck that. Anyway, I'm not quite as excited for the Amiibo aspect as I am for just about everything else that's been updated, but I think it's a welcome addition to the game nonetheless, especially for very strange grindoholics such as myself. I just both wonder and hope the Mii Fighters function somewhat like the Amiibo Fighters, as I've taken to calling them, and level up their stats or something.
Finally, in regards to the leak that hit the internet about the character roster, I'm fully aware it really might be true and not just some photoshop job since the guy took a screenshot of the fucking 3DS and everything. However, I'm still not going to get too crazy about it and take it in stride...besides, I knew right from the start they weren't ever going to put Zoroark in the game, anyway. At least unless they decide to let Smash Bros. 4 have DLC. If they're smart, they'll buy into the DLC market. And hopefully without going overboard like some companies...
PS: Team Midriff is the new funniest Smash meme ever. I demand there be a comic called Team Midriff Adventures. NOW.
