Screw HP computers
So, I'm leaving for my second year up at college. I learned that my college is upgrading its wireless to 5G instead of the 2.4G it used to have. Normally this is a GREAT thing, faster internet is always better, UNFORTUNATELY my laptop currently does not support 5G wireless for some reason. After a bit of research I discovered this can be fixed with a new wireless card, but that you need to be very precise on which one because if it is not a very specific card the computer will not support it. Luckily HP has a webpage that when you input your serial number it gets your exact model and tells you exactly what cards are supported. Found a match to a supported card on amazon for only $40 and ordered it. But here is where it fucks me over... when I put the card into my laptop and boot it back up I get a message that it is not a card supported. Now remember this is an EXACT DOWN TO THE SMALLEST DETAIL match to one listed BY HP to match my model of laptop THAT WAS DETECTED THROUGH THE SERIAL NUMBER! Now I can no longer get a refund NOR can I seem to upgrade my computer. Basically I need to pray that my school is smart enough to get dual band wireless or I will need to get a whole new $700+ computer... fantastic HP... thanks.

Double check to see if you have the proper drivers for your operating system. Your version of BIOS may also need to be updated to support the new hardware.
