Well, not everything went my way. Since I recently bought my house, I didn't have much money to buy swag. And I ended up mostly just being teased a lot by people I wanted to play with and was a very pent up dragon by the end of the con.
But...
Overall, I really had a good time. This con was very important for me. I've been through a lot of emotional turmoil over the last year, and I finally healed enough to start coming out from under my rock more recently... but still, while I'd emptied out a lot of that negative crap, I didn't have much positive to replace it with. And at FC, I just soaked up all of that positive stuff like a sponge.
The Adult Dragon Panel was really good for me in particular. Having so many dragons in one place just... charges me up. It's like having a little pocket of where I come from... a place where I can be something other than a stranger in a strange land, if only for a couple of hours.
And that, I think, is why the ADP is so popular. I mean, pretty much everything that is shown there will be dumped onto FA anyway. Everyone could just look up the images in the privacy of their own homes where they can fap to it on the spot. But the real power of it is dragons getting to actually be themselves for once... without censoring themselves... without holding back... engaging in one of their most treasured pasttimes openly which they aren't normally allowed to. In a room full of nothing but dragons and dragon lovers, you can actually be a dragon without someone throwing a rock at you.
To me, it's just magical. I just soak all that energy up, and it's like a gasp of air after holding your breath longer than you can really stand.
One thing I will say though... I think it's dandy to save up dragon art to debut at the panel. But I don't like the idea of ADP exclusives... stuff that's shown only at the panel that won't be posted. There was some of that this year, and I think it needs to be nipped in the bud. That direction will change the ADP into something else quickly. The ADP does not need exclusives to be popular.
Anyway, the rest of the con was really great, too. I got to hang out with a lot of cool people. I won't try to name them because that always leads to anyone you forget off the list feeling neglected.
I will say I was excited to finally meet Athus and Narse in person. Athus in particular I'd known for a long time online, and we'd fallen out of touch. So it was really great to rekindle that. And Narse, well... who wouldn't want to meet Jesus?
Actually, I'm afraid that Thorndraco of some years ago looked more like Jesus than Narse does.
Anyway, Narse is ultra cool. And I really hope to hang out with him more.
There are others I got to spend time with who are very special to me. But yeah, I'm avoiding naming names.
Lessee... In other news, I drew in some sketchbooks... for Summer Jackson, Palshife, Mandarax, Xaxoqual, and Jaelyn. I'm hoping to get scans back of those so I can post them here. Mandarax did his already. Thanks! :)
I expect to be posting sketchbook stuff and my paintings from the ADP slowly over the next while here. A bunch of people were clammoring for me to post more stories, too. So I'm considering that. So stay tuned.

FA+

You have penor!
Liiiiiiiiiick.
Okay, I'm lying.
What really happens is everyone gets into a large room full of chairs... there's like 200-300 people, I think. Kiteless has a projector, and he basically does a power point presentation... only it's cool, because it has dragon penor rather than pie charts.
In the first part of it, Kiteless talks about all the dragon stuff out there, why we think dragons are sexy, etc etc. He's a really great guy, and fun to listen to all by himself. He talks about books that have dragon sex in them and all that kind of thing. So you kinda get the run down on non-furry sources of scale grinding action among other things. Oh, and then Kiteless beans you in the head with a candy bar (he throws them at the audience... I'm sure he considered throwing meat at the gathered flock of dragons, but.. eh... too messy... and... rrr... dangerous).
During the second part (the larger portion), Kiteless shows big projections of dragon smut that artists have submitted for the panel and has said artists come up to talk about their work. Most of us sound really nervous and don't know what to say. Heh. It's fun to get more in depth presentation on what went into the various pieces and why something was the way it was or easter eggs in them you wouldn't have noticed... and to get some idea of the sick minds that create them (like me). :)
After each artist's work is shown (up to 5 pieces), the audience can ask them questions. For instance, I was asked why the hemipenes on my dragons also have bifurcated tips.
The whole event is very jovial with a lot of comments and outbursts from the audience and whoop and hollar whenever dragon vent or wang pops up on the projection. Particularly when it's Maleficent getting porked by that giant. ;)
Oh man, THAT would be something :D
I noticed that you, a hoofed animal, is nearly alone amid all the large dragons in this journal. It's no wonder you're running!
My question is, are you running away - or towards them? :)
The ADP is a panel I would be interested in making time to attend. I looked at the online schedule and saw the panel scheduled to begin at 11 pm and end past midnight. I wonder why the panel started so late, maybe because of the adult nature is more appropriate for late night discussion. But I'm glad to see there was structure to the panel. My first and only furry con was last year's CaliFur and the only discussion group I attended was a Photoshop group. I was disappointed in the group because of a lack of a presenter, and structure.
I'll be at Anthrocon this year. I hope it has an Adult Dragon Panel because it sounds like the panel is a lot of fun. :)
And yeah, the ADP is definitely one of the major highlights of the con.
As for art exclusives for it, I can only name a couple artists doing that, and the reasons have nothing to do with a desire to keep the art exclusive to the panel.
I understand what you mean about the exclusive art, and I know one of my pieces was one of them. But some artists get commissioned for private pieces. I LOVED how this particular one turned out and wanted to share it with my fellow dragons :3 But still wanted to respect the commissioner's wishes of it not being posted. Everything else tho I will be posting soon.
Glad you enjoyed yourself :)
