i think ads should only display people with open commission lists.

I know!! I get so sick of seeing ads for people who AREN'T open, it's like they're just paying to be an attention whore c.c

or how about people with open commission lists have a higher chance of their ad appearing, than someone with closed, so everyone still gets advertised, just it gives people who are open more of a chance.

I think that would be a wonderful idea! For some reason it's always the ones who are closed who gets more ads!

Artists aren't machines. They can only take so much on at a time. They may have put the ad up when they were taking commissions or for those that haven't found them yet because there's always someone new to FA looking for new artists to watch. That and they want more variety for later commission openings. As for commission prices, that depends on the amount of time and quality. Most artists earn less than minimum wage on their art and others only job is art so they need to make enough to make a living. Artists rant about this kind of complaint all the time. Art is not a need, it's a luxury. You can either afford it or you can't. When you can't, you either save up for it or just wait until you can afford it. Hi. I'm an artist and fursuit maker. I do not earn enough from either to make a living. I make about $5 an hour just on art and sometimes less. For a 2 month fursuit project, I can earn between $600-800. That's less than minimum wage and the fact that people need to save for those amounts could make it take longer. That and I don't have constant commissions makes it worse. I cannot afford to live off of my work. My husband covers everything.

Perhaps they shouldn't base their whole income off of something if they can't treat it as if it were a job, when you work somewhere you're supposed to be much like a machine, you're expected to be able to handle the load given to you to be able to earn your wages which feed you, what I am referring to is the artists who NEVER open and yet they have ads, they wait months upon months for commission turnouts or even to have a journal opening anything, and by the time anyone sees the journal (I can't spend every waking hour on a luxury, sorry to disappoint) it is already full and gone, so what is the point? They already have many customers, more than they need, so why the hell do they advertise to try to get more!? I'm not talking about the artists who aren't well known and can't afford to have an ad, I'm talking about the ones who are making BANK off of this (yes I know very many who are doing this) and then continue to add to their load by finding more customers, when it is obvious their supply cannot meet the demand they continue to expand by their own doing.

That's understandable. There are people who take on way more than they can handle and when they get overwhelmed, they start procrastinating. When they start procrastinating, they waste time they could be using to make the money like they should and then have to take on more because they didn't complete the ones like they should. They'll complete the old ones then have to take on more. It's a continuous circle, but yeah, I see what you're talking about.
