Check to see if your wireless router automatically searches for an available IP address or if it requires a manually input one. If it requires a manually input one and you find yourself being kicked-off/unable to connect, then someone might be using your net connection.

Ah, sorry, I didn't include many details. The thing is, I don't have my own internet; I use my phone at home. I get on wifi at other places, just none of them are working. My adapter lets me use automatic or manual, and it's normally on auto. I found some people who said to use certain manual IPs, but none of them worked for me. The problem came out of nowhere; I was online during my work break, and then when I tried to get on again after work, I couldn't.

Kinda sounds like a network conflict going on. Have you verified with others on the same network that it is still running?

There's multiple networks at work, and the same thing happened at Panera. It's definitely my computer.

What operating system are you using? Is your network connection set to DHCP?

It's Windows 8.1, and I have no idea what DHCP is or where to find it.

You see the option to automatically obtain IP information? Well, I tried the other option, to enter the info myself, using IPs that other people who say they've dealt with this problem before used. Just, none of them work.

And what is DHCP, anyway?

DHCP is the protocol that allows clients to get IP addresses and DNS servers from the router automatically.
