Um, I would say the youtube commenters who like to type "TITS" and "FAPFAPFAP" on a female's youtube video regardless of the video's content/meaning?
I have to imagine that anyone who has happened across a comment of that nature would find this video at least a little amusing. I know it's the "in thing" to hate on College Humor these days but are people hating on Cracked now too? I just don't get it.
People are hating on agenda driven news websites, these days.
My question on the directed target audience is more about, people the type those kind of comments either do it to be offence or lack the neuron capacity to understand they are being offensive. In other words they will not stop.
Honestly there will always be idiots on the internet, sadly that happened when it was more streamlined (Love to see "fresh user" these days log into a irc client from the 90s).
One way to fix the issue would be to tweak the comment system of youtube. You'd be surprised on the effects of actually ignoring garbage comments. Paying them no mind and not replying to them, kinda like the effects of being shadow banned.
Yeah, what I meant though is even their silly videos that don't have much to do with anything people comment nothing but hate like it's hip.
I should hope that people do understand that it is offensive, but I think why they do it is for a mix of reasons. One would be to get the acceptance of their peers by copying someone else who did it or to get thumbs ups. Another reason would be to make people angry because there's no consequence over the internet. Some people enjoy making others upset, whether it be to make themselves feel better or for the sheer sick pleasure of it. And there might even be the delusional few who believe that by typing tits in all capitol letters that the girl they find attractive will reciprocate with nude pics. I know that last one sounds like a stretch but I've gathered over the years that pig heads who say rude stuff are trying to breech the topic to get what they want. Like dudes in bars who walk up to a girl and say, "Your ass is great, too bad about your tits though. Come home with me." The worst part is I watched that happen and the girl DID. To this day I honestly hope she knew the guy, because a put down should never be a pick up line.
I agree though that if garbage comments are ignored that their effect is much smaller.
