Any lawyer worth the price of his or her degree could easily implicate the hotel. The stage wasn't properly fastened. The party responsible for that is liable. The problem is that hotels and insurance companies have money, and we don't. But if you can get a pro bono lawyer, bam.

Unfortunately free lawyers are hard to come by

Negligence on their part. At the end of the month, I"ll see what overhead I have.

It's obvious that the hotel is at fault. Do you have documentation of the incident? Pictures of the broken stage, or written admittance? What a mess they've put you through.
