Its basically to allow fans to tip you regularly, each month. They don't allow adult art, so don't mention that you do it ..... but for some artists it works quite well. I try to remember to tip artists when I can, but I often forget, and its simpler for me to go through patreon. I have two I contribute a total of $15/mo to which I know isn't much, but of course they have several fans and it can add up, and its regular.

Rukis is probably a ridiculous example to cite, as she has 30,000 (!) followers on FA, but she is getting over $2,600/mo from her fans (such as myself). She was up to nearly $3,500, but as I expected, several who started to contribute stopped after a month or two.

I'm not sure how the setup works, TBH. I gather its similar to kickstarter, but its geared toward artists and regular monthly donations instead of one-time donations.

the monthly can be changed to after X period greater than monthly or per project completed. unless i'm pulling that info out of nowhere...
