So I try to log in only to find that facebook has disabled my account. The reason being that I was not using my real name. This is the most absurd thing I've ever heard. Why do I NEED to use my real name. I don't have to use my real name on any other site, but on facebook, you NEED a first and last name. On twitter I can make my handle be anything I want. On steam I can make my handle whatever I want. Facebook and its trends are ruining the internet.

The internet is a place where I can be whatever the hell I want to be. If I want to pretend i'm a red panda, fuck you for trying to stop me. Removing the anonymity of the internet will have dire consequences. It creates this obsession of having to know exactly who a person is and what they're doing at all times, but really it's about money. Give facebook your real name so they can have ads targeted straight at you; so they know exactly where you live and can shove ads down your throat from the local pizza place that's having a sale.

Even if you don't list personal info on your facebook, all I need is your name to find out everything about you. Pretty soon you'll be receiving ads in the mail because you happened to go fetishzone.net using your real name. Facebook removes the mystery of discovery by telling you everything you would want to know about a person without even leaving your house.

Facebook's is changing the way people are allowed to use the internet. That, plus bills like Net Nuetrality, are going to take away everything that makes the internet great.
