Tablets: are they worth buying?

I'm looking into saving up for a Wacom tablet of some sort, I think it'll be cool and I could draw much more quickly and get more done. Although I'm curious if they're worth getting and if so what kind? I'd like to eventually start doing commissions along side my on and off requests.
Once I have a couple more pictures up I could at least offer some commissions now in digital and traditional to help put towards it.
Also TinyTitan's character adoptable "The Time Traveler" is ending today.
