Back home from hospital
Errrrgh, slowly getting better. Taking each day as it comes. So far the main hurdle has been making myself eat and drink enough but after a fainting spell yesterday (I think I damn near gave my husband a fatal heart attack) I've been much better about forcing that nutrition down. Man I miss real food. I am eating through a 60ml syringe inserted through the hole where my two newly-missing teeth are. Being wired shut sucks. Ceb has been the best care taker I could ever ask for though.
The first milestone will either be the swelling starting to go down or the tape coming off my stitches and finally being allowed to wash my hair. After that it'll be waiting for the wires to come off. After that it'll just be baby steps towards normality in 6-9 months once the bone graft has settled in.
For those of you curious here is my post-op x-ray. For something to show what the swelling is like... well. Just in time for Halloween, right?
Nap time again now. Much love <3
e: watered down mashed potato mixed in with brown gravy is the best ohhh my gosh

FA+

How long do they expect for the swelling to go away? Should I think in weeks or months here?
Anyway, I hope you will feel better soon. I dunno what kind of nutrition you have to get... Do you
drink it through a straw? If you're allowed to have liquids and stuff like that, maybe you could see
if you could make yourself a fruit smoothie and drink that. At least you'll have some real foods in
there, although you won't be chewing it, and it tastes nice... Might be nice for a change. :)
I'm incredibly surprised that you haven't said a word about pain. You've got more balls than I do; I bitched like hell after my wisdom tooth surgery. Either that or you're on damn good painkillers.
Just keep eating(what you can) and drinking water, and know that you're more of a badass than most people.
Very Respectfully,
Vesper
I hope for your recovery to be fast and and peaceful !!
Hope it's a speedy one Wyla and glad it's worked out for the best. Ceb's a top dog for taking care of you.
Dude, you have a bike chain for a jaw!
Also, hope your swelling goes down soon! Much hugs!
You're gonna kick this recovery's BUTT!!! I just know it! c: <3
My cousin is preparing to go in for surgery soon, where they're going to take out part of his jaw, but we fear he may need part of his tongue and voice box removed too.
