You read the article about how a police officer ended up killing his own canine partner by keeping him in the car with windows rolled up for hours?

I've read one like that, don't know if it was the same one. If I ever did that to my K-9 partner by accident, I'd seriously consider eating my gun.

Another reason I couldn't be a K-9 handler.

It's unfortunate that we live in a world so cruel that stories like this are commonplace. There's a movie known as "Ace of Hearts" that was based on a true story like this... where a criminal evades police by leaving a substance to throw off the dogs' sense of smell (Alum). When Ace does catch him, the criminal inflicts self-harm on himself with barbed wire to make the police think Ace has become vicious and a threat to public safety. Ace is sent to be put down... but thankfully he escapes and it is up to Ace's handler and his daughter to prove Ace's innocence. A happy ending, but quite the heart-wrenching tale.

This world is very evil that it is hell on Earth.

My condolences go out to the officer.

Very sad news. I'm heading to the State Patrol academy in a few weeks and hope to become a police service dog handler one day. Awful things like this can and do happen and seeing the bond broken between handler and their animal is heartbreaking. My condolences go to Deputy Ashe and the rest of the agency folks who know the team.

That's sad...the people we have in this world have sick twisted minds and have no respect, no feelings for anyone, nothing...it's all about them having power to do such evil things. They will rot in hell for the cruelty they cause. In this sake, breaking the bond between a k-9 and it's human is devastating, or yet a circuital blow to the heart. My dog being put down was so hard as it is, I can just imaging what this person had to go threw for his lost k-9 partner.

So sad...
