Let's talk about Fetishes (obv. Adult subject matter)

Wear your Tragedies
not as Shackles
but as Armor
::Disclaimer:: Obviously, Fetishes are an adult subject, so if you're not of a consenting age, kindly hit the back button and stop reading this journal. I've put the warning out there, so that's all I can do about that. Also- Any immature and/or blatantly rude comments will be hidden, I want this to be a safe space for discussion!
So Lila and I are both pretty open with each other, and in general, about fetishes. For years I've been trying to explain a particular fetish of mine. The way I always describe it is an attraction to weapons and armor, but that's barely scratching the surface to be honest. As a young adult, I would watch movies like "Lord Of The Rings" for the fight scenes, and let's be honest that's what most people watch them for but not usually because they find them sexy. Now fight scenes aren't "porn", let's be real here, but I've always loved well choreographed/realistic fight scenes because there's a "real danger" for the characters involved. Again, this is just a part of watching movies I guess.
Anyway, back on point, I'm a writer, to me there is a word for everything. Much to my distress, I haven't quite found one for my fetish. Due to a few conversations and realization that I can't describe what my "biggest" and oddly hardest to satisfy fetishes is, I've been trying to break it down and look for the individual pieces. So in my research, I've found a few words that basically sum up the entirety of my favorite fetish.
Mechanophilia // "Robot Fetishism"// Technosexuality- It's exactly what it sounds like, a fetish for robots/mechanical things. This is the barest edge of what I generally look for, especially because as much as I love Transformers... This isn't quite what I'm looking for. I can pretend that a robot is really just a person in armor though so that helps a bit. Basically take the transformers and change them into people in armor and you've got what I want.
Autassassinophilia- Well let me point out "Assassin" is actually in the word, and as creepy as this is it's a fetish for the risk of death/being killed. As Lila has heard me say; it's the risk of death, the fight for their lives. It's not that I want someone/anyone to die, but the struggle to survive against all odds... It's the journey, not the end result that fascinates me (or you know, gets me hot and bothered). Overly done fight scenes lose the sense of reality and completely kill this for me. Though I suppose you could attach this to sadomasochism and other fetishes like auto-erotic asphyxiation, those aren't quite what I have in mind majority of the time. Those are controlled, typically in your bedroom, with a consenting partner, and while for anything in reality that is completely necessary, if we're just talking about fantasy then I'd rather it be more... Real? I can't think of how else to explain this.
"Hoplophile"- I'm going to tentatively put this here, because I can't confirm it's 100% a word but to quote hoplophile.co.uk "Hoplophile is someone with an interest in arms and all matters relating to weapons." That's basically it in a nut shell, granted I care more for armors and shields but guns, knives, bows and arrows are also very attractive. I love weaponry. And while I am why into gun/knife play, I'd never risk hurting myself or others by indulging in either.
Now, onto what I actually wanted to post this journal for- Does anyone else have something they consider to be one fetish/kink that they can't seem to find one word/phrase that explains it all in one go?
Do you have a fetish you're scared of ever indulging? Do you find it hard to find images or videos to satisfy a "kink" of yours?
Have you ever told someone about a fetish of yours in confidence and then had them treat you like a different person?
Hope no-one hates me for this journal, but it's something that's been bothering me for a while.
Response to Ajna "lets talk about your fetishes" journal- (cuz I like how I wrote my reply)
I actually posted a journal related to this not that long ago... Just trying to define my own fetishes. Hope it's okay for me to post most of the journal here o.o'
1. What are some of your sexual interests that aren't quite so common or acceptable? Well, I've been trying to sum up my "fetishes", the problem is I'm very particular, and I feel all this is one fetish because it takes the compilation of them for it to be arousing to me.

2. Is your interest restricted to art/fantasy, or is it something you (would) like to engage in IRL?
For the most part, I'm realistic, I know being into something dangerous would result in the real risk of injury or death. I'd love to fight for my life vs a willing partner who is also in it to win/survive but that's not realistic, if I were in that situation I'd get arrested for assault. So regardless of any desire to play with all of this IRL, I am reasonable enough to know I cannot for many legal/safety reasons. Worst part is, I'm not even (generally speaking) a violent person o.o' Not as far as the people who know me are concerned at least.
3. How did you come across your interest in this subject? Was there something in your childhood you innocently found an interest in, that later developed into a sexual interest? Or did you discover your interest much later?
Well the armor/weaponry aspect comes from the beauty in crafting weapons. They have always been lovely to me, especially because I used to have a friend who's father was a black smith (or at least, that's what I understood that he did, he made functional swords and shields) and I saw the effort used to create a weapon of good quality. It's an art, and as such is beautiful, and the product, like any well made instrument, is stunning.
I suppose part of it comes from the fact that my father beat the shit out of me as a kid (sorry, I'm not one to mince words). I mean, I went to school with hairline fractures in every rib as a kid, no-one noticed. But for as much as he abused me, he always told me he loved me, and even more so now. Now he hasn't tried to hurt me since I punched him back when I was in high school. But a part of me associates violence with love? I mean... My dad's way of showing affection was to kick me while I curled up and protected my guts and face. So how in love with someone must you be to try and kill them? It's a bit warped, I'll be honest, but I can't help it, I've grown to associate violence with passion. Which isn't all together wrong if you think about it, the hero fighting to save the princess because he's in love with her (or just loves his country) is a common trope. So is fighting to avenge a lost love, or to protect people. So violence and passion are linked in many cases, just not the way I've linked them I guess...
4. If possible, can you explain why you like the subject? What do you get from it?
I guess the easiest way to explain is the above, and what I get from it...? It's a language I understand. I may not be able to understand why giving someone something you don't have (i.e. "I'd give you the moon", "for you I'd pluck the very stars from the sky") is romantic, but to have passion enough to fight, to care enough to be willing to put up with injury... That's something I understand. I guess I just got so used to fighting and treating my own injuries that I feel more empathy with someone who has the ability to do the same. Or maybe I'm just a sick person....
I'm actually scared of what may come from posting this. What if people hate me, or think I'm alright with physical/emotional abuse...? I've just been though a lot in my life, so it's something I've come to understand better than metaphors used in traditional love. If you have any questions I suppose, comment back. If I don't reply quicky, it's because I got too scared to log on/check my FA.
Personally I haven’t really thought about what fetish some of my quirks might be so I don’t know if there would even be a name for those. But one thing is positive that I’m surely game for and that is Hoplophile. I have a clear attraction to knifes, swords, blades, basically everything that has a sharp and cutting edge. I have two axes (sadly I can’t hang them up like in my last apartment), a hunting knife near the head of my bed, an old military bajonett and I ALWAYS have a Swiss pocket knife with me. Also kitchen knives get to me with their shiny and elegant blades. My collection is small but highly adored.^^ Thought I’m not playing around with them, knowing how dangerous they can be. I just love to hold them in my hand to marvel at their appearance and workmanship. Register their weight and the cool of the metal.
The robots in iRobot are just a little too humanoid for me to be really all that attracted to them personally. It's literally a case of "I don't like your face" because they're doll faced and that's just not my thing. I love seeing gears and moving parts, yah know?
Hoplophilia is used more as a term for guns than anything else, but I'm with you. Blades are where it's at. Lila and I have quite the collection (including a few small necklace knives, countless pocket knives, and a few assisted flip opening knives) that we just keep... adding to o.o' We must have 3 or 4 hundred dollars worth of knives... (mostly due to the quality for their ages) Of course we'd never pay that much for one, I think the most we've spent on just one knife was 30 bucks including tax. Honestly? Most of them were presents or on sale for 10 bucks. Doesn't help that Lila works at a sporting goods store, in the knife/gun department lol.
Treat a weapon with the respect it deserves, right? ^.^
So make the shell transparent and throw in some more mechanism and you'd go for it? XD That makes me wonder do you like steampunk? A steampunk NS5, that would be interesting, no?
I'm more of the opposite; My knife and axes were all over 50 bucks each (expect the pocket knives cause most of them where gifts) Also the kitchen knives are an expensive brand. I prefer quality over quantity.
Exactly!^^
Yep pretty much ^.^ Or at least semi-transparent. And yes, I love steampunk. A steampunk NS5 would be lovely~
Don't get me wrong, they're quality knives, we just usually get them on sale, with an employee discount lol I love Cutco kitchen knives~ But for the most part they're out of my price range. If I had more money... I'd have too many blades. Then again, if I had more money, hopefully I'd be smart enough to not spend it on wants.
Anyway, I don't think of you any differently. :)
To each their own ^.^ Thanks for the polite comments as always! =D
