Blackgate - Review of 0.6 My Thoughts
I felt as though this release doesn't show a lot when compared to earlier jumps. I guess this is the growing pains of the project, and, once I get past this hurdle, I will be able to really show something great. I spent time setting up stuff for t-shirts and promotional material instead of focusing on the project. I will stick with it and only through perseverance can this project become something I am proud of. So if you have criticism don't be afraid to say it. Just know I am on your side and willing to listen. By sticking to a schedule it shows bad releases and it will show good releases. But most importantly, it shows progress.

A.) Grammar/Spelling could still use some work, there were some that were overlooked, even if you fixed some.
B.) You were right about how little was really done to move it along, however, that isn't to say you didn't put in a lot of work. Things like these take effort, and it's amazing how far it has come in such a small amount of time, especially since you're tackling several routes at once to make it more enjoyable right off the bat (as opposed to a certain other Visual Novel that releases a new route about once every several blue moons...), so you've already proven you're doing a lot for it.
C.) It would be a good idea to focus more on the game than the merchandise, at least for now...It'll be hard to sell the merch if people lose interest because of lack of decent updates/completion. However, it is good that you're thinking ahead. I like how much time and effort you're putting into this, ESPECIALLY stuff like this, where you point out that you know your faults and flaws and ask your fans for opinions. As you said, you're willing to listen, and that's just plain awesome.
For now that's all I have to say on it, well, aside from this: Can't wait to see what the next update has in store!
I would have said that last bit myself...but I fear I've given Bane too much praise over the past few weeks, hehehe, so I figured I'd skip it this time, so as not to sound like a broken record.
*noms the cookie*
However, out of respect for Bane, I think we should stop spamming this journal with pointless banter.
Yeah, grammar and spelling is always a work in progress especially when I am re-writing and adding sections. It will continue to plague the project until it is finished finished.
The foundation is being laid for future updates. I will be releasing more updates and continue the cycle.
The reason why I was focused on merch and stuff was because I am promoting things at a convention. Saying, hey, look at this, what do you think? I am also running a panel and talking about the project. I know I have flaws and errors just as you've seen. I am not claiming to be perfect but that is part of the process. The thing that amazes me is that individuals like you and others actually enjoy it. I feel as though I owe it to those who say something that they see is wrong or help in other ways. I owe it to y'all to make a great Blackgate once everything is said and done.
Good luck with promoting at a con, so far the online knowledge of your project is a hit and spreading like wildfire, so I bet there'll be some eager ones looking forward to meeting you or picking up some of that promotional stuff. ^^ If I were a con-goer, I would definitely wanna shake your hand, at the least, hehe.
Hmm...I kinda understand why you don't want it to get huge. Being a popufur has its ups and downs, but those downs seem pretty scary...especially if you're not used to all the attention.
Everything else seems great though. I haven't run into a single error page like there were in the last update. I have however run into several missing character textures and once the background texture was missing for the scene.
I am working on the bar path and finishing the police partner routes. Rewriting a couple scenes and if I am extra ambitious, adding a hidden routes.
