I'm certain that most of us furs know what it's like to be called something we're not. For example people (my immediate family) frequently like to refer to me as a wolf..... WTF! I am not a damn wolf nor do I even look like one.... not that I don't like them or anything but.. really? Wolf...come on people.. if I were to make a bird or reindeer fursuit they would still call me a wolf.. or Scooby-Doo like my aunt commonly resorts to... from this I deduce that they still don't quite understand what i do or grasp the basis of furry fandom.. people who love cartoon animals. Some of which create their own characters, costumes, stories, art or other media or performance of the like. My aunt is probably the closest to understanding what it is we're into. I'm not Scooby-Doo though and I sure as hell don't resemble anything like him. I'm not even canid... so why is it people refer to some of us as something were not? Put it simply if you're into fursuits you will begin to or have noticed that many of the suits out there look almost identical. Dogs look like dogs and cats look like dogs and otters look like dogs. And I don't mean that in a bad way, nobody is ripping off anyone else... I hope... and consistency is a good thing.. if builders weren't consistent it would be terrible. One day a magnificent piece of "useable" art then the next a completely horrid piece worthy of the dumpster, a suit so bad the person wearing it should be embarrassed. (That was mean) honestly I know there are people who try their best and I can only applaud the fact that they tried and went with it while others will sit around and troll on people who "are popufur because of their fancy suit that they can dump that sands of dollars or euros into"..
Me I'm a bitter piece of shit. I won't openly say to someone that their fursuit would peel the chrome off a bumper but in my head I'm being overly critical.. even to myself.. in fact, I haven't worn a single one of the fursuits that I've made for myself because something about it made me think to myself... why would I wander around in public wearing this? Well come this next week i will hopefully go out in the newest addition to my collection. And no it isn't a wolf or Scooby-Doo. In fact nobody knows of the new character I made and I kinda want to keep it that way. Kinda like mystery otter... but not, because I would burn I'm my personal hell for ripping someone off. Which nobody's hold ever do even if they are out of ideas or that thing they are looking at could be tweaked just so and made their own.
Overall I'm happy with the way my newest creation is turning out. Even the bad things somehow are ironing themselves out as I finish what's left. My new approach to building fursuit heads has exploded with positive results. So my confidence is way up and I am stoked to go out in this fursuit... except for the weather.. that shit will keep me inside.. unless there are pets.... then I would rather be rained on... unless their a kids in the rain throwing mud..then it's the rv for me.. or my room...but then that's no fun....decisions..decisions...
