Watch out for fraud

When misguided public opinion honors what is despicable and despises what is honorable, punishes virtue and rewards vice, encourages what is harmful and discourages what is useful, applauds falsehood and smothers truth under indifference or insult, a nation turns its back on progress and can be restored only by the terrible lessons of catastrophe. – Frederic Bastiat

Voting machines that switch Republican votes to Democrats are being reported in Maryland.
“When I first selected my candidate on the electronic machine, it would not put the ‘x’ on the candidate I chose — a Republican — but it would put the ‘x’ on the Democrat candidate above it,” Donna Hamilton said.

“This happened multiple times with multiple selections. Every time my choice flipped from Republican to Democrat. Sometimes it required four or five tries to get the ‘x’ to stay on my real selection,” the Frederick, Md., resident said last week.
Queen Anne County Sheriff Gary Hofmann said he encountered the problem, too, personally.
“This is happening here as well. It occurred on two candidates on my machine. I am glad I checked. Many voters have reported this here as well,” Hofmann, a Republican, wrote in an email Sunday evening.
Two other Maryland voters reported the same in Anne Arundel County on Friday

I just don't vote because I don't live in america, besides, politics are pretty dumb and pointless to me. :V
Voting is allowed, and surprisingly it's actually optional
is it true that I'll get lynched if I publicly stated that I'll never vote if I were in the americas?
No it is not true sadly I wish more Americans took it more seriously... We have gotten fat and complacent had forgotten what our founders told us... We are headed for a fall or another civil war...
Brb removing myself from this topic.
Understood...
In my area we had an education board election - there was someone with the surname Hernandez with the title of "educator" and the a man named "Steve Rocco" who was listed as a "Businessman."
Steve rocco won. Here's the thing: nobody had ever seen him before. He had never made a public appearance. Eventually during the innauguration ceremony Rocco appeared - a man in full camo, black glasses. His nomination speech was about how the IRS was trying to kill him with space satellites. This is the man our vaunted democratic process chose to run the schools. In other words, the majority of people either didn't like the latino last name or voted for the "businessman" (His business was selling conspiracy booklets he wrote) He showed up to every meeting and read out another paranoid conspiracy every time.
Moral of the story. Sure, rock the vote, but please try to give yourself a little education on the issues not based on attack ads or snarky entertai-news sources. If you're at the poll and you've voted for the things you do know about, consider abstaining from propositions and lower tickets that you don't know about.
(gets off pedestal)
Also - vis a vis fraud, there's a lot that can happen. I've had computer tablets that don't register my touch right and I'm not jumping to conspiracy. More likely that voting machine was purchased from a contractor with unseemly ties to the state for way too much money for poor quality, than an evil partisan virus. In my opinion.
Besides, the more effective hijinks all happen during counting and ballot transportation.
I saw this news article a couple days ago but it was based in Ohio, i guess once all the Republicans heard about it they did the only proper thing and they all decided to treat their machines and act surprised, even though it was already a known issue. At least it was caught before the election
Us nutty libertarian's don't trust either one of them they both push and push their agenda on the rest of us... Damnit we're fine just being free... "He who governs least, governs best!"
I am also of the persuasion, I should have been a furry porcupine...
