More likely (though unfortunate) is that you're 'unpopular' because you submit infrequently and have submitted your last few things in black and white.

Black and white images can be of brilliant quality but for some reason on FA usually get less attention :S

And popularity is linked to a the amount of exposure your work gets, the more you submit, the more it's favourited and seen, the more new watchers you receive in return. Other 'tricks' to gain popularity are opening for requests or commissions frequently and doing free art streams now and then. People who receive art from you will 9 out of 10 times post it in their gallery too linking back to yours giving you a LOT more exposure as suddenly new audiences get to look at your stuff!

Yeah, true that. I do need to color more, and rocking some requests wouldn't be a bad idea either

Frankly. I've had to battle with the thoughts like... "WHY DOESN'T ANYONE NOTICE ME. AM I NOT GOOD ENOUGH?'
