i found one all right. they want fifty bux a month to join though. i don't think so. in a year i could buy my own 3d printer instead for that much.
they've got a nice big plasma cutter and a nice big space, but that's still more then its worth to me to hang out with people once a week.

to me that says they only want people who can afford that, which doesn't appeal to me either.

now if it was fifty bux a year, or every six months, maybe i could see that. but a month? that's rediculous, unless its a typo of some kind, which it doesn't seem to be.

cnc milling, printing and cutting all interest me, along with creating and building scale models of my own design.
minature 3d worlds, with scale model furrys to populate it. representing alien cultures and ways of life.
all those things i'm into. and i love technologies too. when they're not incompatable with a sustainable world.

and especially i love sustainable alternatives to more familiar and less sustainable ones.

well i have/had a 3d printer (its bed heater crapped out on me first, and i may have subsiquently fried its main board, and having to send it back to its factory will not do at all. i'm getting a different one that i can get all the parts (and hopefully service manuals) for, that i can maintain myself. or possibly a desktop mill instead. at any rate i'm waiting another couple of weeks until after the december holidays to order.

We have a full woodshop, 3D printers, laser cutters and other CNC equipment (owned by a separate business that cohabitates with the space) that members get reduced rates on, airbrush equipment, sculpting equipment and clay, casting supplies( the space buys in bulk and parts it down for resale at a reasonable price), electronics workbench, sewing machines, forge, welding equipment and a wealth of knowledge from the other members. Totally worth $50 a month.

they have a big plasma cutter, (and i would imagine the rest of the cnc tools, only one day a week though, last i checked). but my mind just doesn't work that way in a social environment like that, which is not to say it wouldn't be absolutely great for someone else, its even, close to what i see as taking the place of our current world's way of doing things. sure it would be perfectly reasonable, i guess, if i were looking to make things to sell, that's just not how my mind works or i should say, how my mind doesn't work. 50 bux isn't a big deal, granted, but its a big deal if your retirement is less the 1k a month.

None in my entire county, never mind just the city. Maybe I should start my own, there's plenty of empty buildings around...

Unfortunately, there are no locations in my state. I'd have to drive out of state - at least an hour - just to get to the nearest one.
