One year closer to death's cold, inevitable embrace! :D
11 years ago
So, today (technically yesterday as I write this at nearly 1am) was my birthday.
Seems as good an excuse as any for a "State of the Artist" update to all my friends, followers and comic readers.
2014 can suck all kinds of dick. It has not been a good year for me and I will not pretend it was anything less than a horrendous ordeal which I continue to lose sleep over. I've had two apartment floods, a hospital stay I am currently being billed a couple thousand dollars for, and I've had a lot of trouble getting anything resembling decent employment. My current day job has screwed me over on hours, has been telling me to work extra time, unpaid, and will be screwing me for hours even more in December. They are not going to give me any work for half the month. Why would people need money in December? Forget Christmas, I had to tell my Landlord today that it is very likely I will be very late on rent for the next few months.
I am officially requesting a full refund. I am most emphatically an unsatisfied customer and I wish no more dealings with this 2014 business.
However, all is not completely awful.
I hope to finish the last of my pre-summer commissions this weekend. One of them is just about ready for colouring now. Once these commissions have been completed I will be completely rewriting my commission information. Don't bother reading anything I have now, everything will change. From prices, how I get paid, to what it is I'll be offering. This overhaul should be a good thing. Prices will be more aligned with the time it takes me to complete a piece and I'll be getting rid of the commission options I dread and replacing them with popular requests such as con badges, comic pages, YCH auctions, and art stream blocks.
Also, I want to thank the handful of Patreon supporters who've been helping me out the past couple of months. I plan to do a lot more for you guys. I've already switched from weekly to monthly pledges and will be giving my tier rewards and pledge goals another overhaul this weekend. I want being a supporter to have perks. You deserve it! I'm still hammering out the details but look forward to something this weekend!
Speaking of "The Sprawl", my work on the comic continues. I've completed nearly 90 full-colour pages since this time last year and almost completely rebuilt my page buffer to where it was before the summer. That means I already have nearly four months of guaranteed updates ahead at two pages a week. I'd still like to increase my page updates to three a week but I need more support to make that happen. As it is now I may have to take a second job which will decrease the number of pages I can produce each week.
If you've been enjoying the comic and would like to support it but feel money is tight, even a dollar a month helps. I've got 672 followers just on FA alone, if all of you supported me with a dollar a month there'd be no pressure for me to get another job and, in fact, I'd be able to devote enough time to consider posting 3 pages a week. (Although that might be stretching it. ) Between all my galleries and my readers through the various image boards, I've got at least 3000 readers out there. If I were getting a dollar a month from all of them I'd be able to quit my day job and do this full-time, which would mean at least 4 pages a week and con appearances.

Anyways, enough of my pan-handling. I've got cake to eat and sleep to enjoy. I'm stoked about what's coming to "The Sprawl" and hope you all continue to enjoy reading it. This chapter's expository prologue is almost over and I'm insanely happy with the pages I've been producing. This chapter is going to blow the first out of the water.
Look forward to it!
