I did! Unsurprisingly, I have not yet heard back, though. Unfortunately, I don't really expect them to do anything about it, but we'll see. Perhaps I shall be pleasantly surprised :)

The 12 year old account is mine :p "yamaneko" was an old moniker I used in my earlyearly Internet-posting days.

The one that was created today (11/09/14) is NOT me, though. I didn't include that username, because I didn't want to give them extra attention.

Like arabesque said, but it's also likely they want to try taking commissions in your name, essentially getting free money, and people would go after you for it. I've seen that happen before. Hopefully not though.

My guess is they are trying to use your name to sell pics stolen from you. I REALLY hope you have contacted the DA admins about this. It's inexcusable behavior reguardless of the intent...

That's good to hear. People continue to make me sick. Probably obvious but just to state it, ALWAYS be on alert when someone fakes your identity. In my experience it's always only for one of TWO reasons. To use your name as a means of fraud to make money off of it, OR because they have some personal grudge against you and are attempting some sort of juvenile and or insane stalkerish smear campaign. Neither is good obviously... >v<

People who are very popular tend to inspire people to become these popular people to get the same experience of recieving the kind of attention they dream of.

Quick question just for your perspective; why'd you walk away from DA in 2008?

I didn't feel like the community fit what I wanted out of an art website at that point. I joined a bit before dA got ridiculously huge, and participating there became less and less pleasant as the site became more bureaucratic/corporate/increasingly anonymous/huge. Around when they added prints was when I felt fed up with it (although not explicitly because they were offering prints). I was also going through a personal/artistic transition (moving out on my own, developing a rather different direction with my art, etc), which helped make moving to a new community/website more appealing than it might be otherwise. I wasn't, like, deleting my old identity, obviously, but I wanted to move on from the yamaneko moniker and various associations with it, and the then-recent return of FA opened up a compelling new network.

tl;dr, just a fresh start and an attempt to find a less bloated community/website :p

Thanks! I feel kinda lost on DA a lot of the time, which I figure is pretty common - but I don't know if I feel up to stepping away from it, quite yet.

Deactivated accounts can be reactivated for up to one month before they are permanently deleted. Also, DeviantArt no longer publicly distinguishes banned from deactivated accounts, so it is possible that this user has been banned.
