Today I saw Fury, a World War II movie that I have to say was an experience to watch. Going in I was aware that it was a very intense movie, and fairly early on I learned that this movie had no intent to pull its punches. It's graphic, violent, harsh and cold, a bitter tragedy of violence in a period known for exactly that. The characters, while not necessarily all lovable, are characters that you come to feel for and care about, and as you watch how they interact with each other, the environment, and the tank of the movie's namesake, you do come to care about them and hope that things turn out well for them.

Speaking of the environment, the film did an exceptional job setting the mood for the piece, giving us a harsh, dirty, grimy view of the second world war, from the general deterioration of the countrysides and roads to the unforgiving, brutal carnage that adorns the roadsides the main characters pass through. More than that, the film is simply shot beautifully when it needs to be, and gritty at all the right moments to emphasize the chaos of combat. Topping it off, the soundtrack fit the film perfectly, adding the finishing touch to this film's glory.

All in all, if you're looking for an interesting war film this winter, I'd recommend checking it out. Thank you everybody, have a great evening.
