I had a great idea in a story with a series of modular characters in a dream, only to have completely lost it when I woke up!
All I recall is that one of them was fat, and in the end they all find out someone who's supposed to be disliked is actually hiding his own modular secret and that's why he's so distant and disliked or something?

I can't remember a damn thing about any of the characters, sadly, save for the species of maybe three of them.
