Looking for a Dialogue on Redemption
Alright, ladies and gents, ALL of you. I'm looking for opinions on Redemption.
I would like to discuss the idea of redemption with people of varying faiths and viewpoints. I know that my watchers tend to encompass that pretty well.
So, if I may ask, could you answer the following questions:
1 - What is redemption?
2 - Is anything required for redemption?
3 - What is redemption worth?
4 - What does redemption do?
5 - Does it come with a cost?
6 - Are there types of redemption?
7 - Is there something someone cannot be redeemed for?
8 - Is redemption an in-life or after-life thing?
9 - Is it achieved by working towards it, or does it require a change in personality, or both?
Only rule I have is the same rule I have for all discussions and forums: Be respectful of other posters and DO NOT argue like children. The easiest route when you see something you disagree with is not to point fingers, nor address other posters directly. If it's important enough you need to address it, I would appreciate it being discussed in quiet (example: note me).

2. Requirements? For redemption the requirements depend on what one is trying to be redeemed for, but there is always some requirement.
3. For the honest and good-hearted redemption is worth it all. A person without heart or altruism wouldn't care about redemption or righting a wrong.
4. Redemption brings peace, joy, and fellowship. I believe redemption can bring about a change of life.
5. ALWAYS.
6. I am at a loss for this one. Types of redemption would depend on why one is being redeemed I suppose.
7. No, as long as there is forgiveness redemption is possible.
8. I believe it is in-life. Once we are dead our time is up and we had every chance at redemption in life.
9.I think redemption requires work and a chage. To redeem after a wrong every step must be taken to not make the same mistake again.
2. Someone willing to forgive and other willing to work hard so that they don't replicate the past the best they can.
3. It worth quite a lot. At least in my opinion. It is matchless in value.
4. Redemption will bring healing to the offender and offended. Chance to reconcile and such.
5. No one is unredeemable if they are willing to work hard to amend and not repeat the past case. If this was not so, I'd be considered unredeemable because I end up doing the same thing over and over. Mostly bad stuffs.
6. 2 types in my opinion. Full and part. Part being one party is not willing to redeem themselves or forgive others.
7. Nothing, I even believe in mentally ill to be redeemable.
8. In-life, after life is a result of in-life redemption.
9. Both. Willingness to work and change one's personality and view is required. To me these two are always in one packaging.
Redemption is when someone has paid for their previous crimes and misdeeds in an appropriate manner and can be considered "forgiven" by those they wronged
2 - Is anything required for redemption?
In order to be redeemed, I believe a person requires two things: (1) they must have taken actions to make amends for their crimes, and (2) they must show genuine remorse for their actions
3 - What is redemption worth?
This is highly personal and will most likely differ from person to person
4 - What does redemption do?
I believe the act of redemption allows all parties involved to gain some degree of closure and move on with their lives
5 - Does it come with a cost?
There is always a cost when redemption is involved but, again, this cost is something personal and will be different for everyone
6 - Are there types of redemption?
Not quite sure on this one. Will have to pass
7 - Is there something someone cannot be redeemed for?
Maybe the most heinous crimes (genocide, for example) but I guess this depends on how one understands redemption and whether they subscribe to the idea of an all-forgiving deity (or deities)
8 - Is redemption an in-life or after-life thing?
I believe it can be both
9 - Is it achieved by working towards it, or does it require a change in personality, or both
Definitely both. Actions are hollow if there's no genuine desire behind them and vice versa
