Yes, we all survived the chlorine bs: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/.....207-story.html
No damage or harm came to me, anyone with me in my room, my merchandise, nor any of our personal belongings. We were evacuated from our 3rd floor room at the Hyatt hotel when the room alarms were all sounded at 1:15am Sunday early morning Dec 7 2014 (little speaker and flashing light in each room), see the vine videos here: https://vine.co/v/OrqlZ9itDTB and https://vine.co/v/Orql3xDHnJl
After standing out in the cold (-2c/28f) for about 45 minutes -and seeing MORE AND MORE emergency first responder vehicles arriving, we contacted our friends staying in the Hilton across the street.
Kaa
Hyper Sebastian (backpack) and I all headed over there to crash out for the night.
Rosemont and surrounding departments of first responders may have overdone the response, but kudos to them for ALL their efforts. By 2:30am, there was a queue of dozens of emergency vehicles, visible from the Hilton's 9th floor: https://twitter.com/bylagarto/statu.....74113409564675 - it appeared that NEARLY EVERY fire/ambulance unit within a 10 mile radius was called to the scene.
We awoke at 7am, looked out the window (saw no chaos), walked back to our room at the Hyatt, and slept until 9:30am. I made it down just in time to open and not miss any customers.
If we'd not had the backup crash space (THANK YOU
Jesie and
ahorsecalledstud ), we would have been invited back into the Hyatt after a 3+ hour evacuation. I am REALLY glad that I did not have Dainty with us, as we had originally planned. That would have been some SERIOUS stress. All in all, it was just a loss of sleep and tranquility, no harm done.
+++++++++
Now that I am back in my shop, I am doing the usual: paying THOUSANDS of dollars to bills, getting unburied from a pile of e-mails that each require a lot of time to reply, unpacking, sorting, cleaning, and most important of all: extra sleep so I don't get sick. If you are waiting for me to reply to a question you have asked, please give me until Friday... some replies will be sooner, and the pile will be sorted by then.

We all had that sense of "zombie apocalypse is upon us", at least, knowing how it goes, when you're comfy in bed, and then 5 minutes later, standing on the street with all hell breaking loose.
AND THIS WAS AN ORDERLY EVACUATION WHERE NO ONE WAS INJURED IN THE EXODUS.
Tranquility is fragile and fleeting. Enjoy it while you have it.
