So it's a good couple days after the fact of MFF2014, figured the journal needed updating.
I went with several friends I'd made here on FA.
Might as well do a small rollcall.
ShiroBear Dude, it was so great to see you again and holy hell that first night... Hope your leg gets better soon.
Nikogor It was awesome finally getting to meet you and I hope that commission you got turns out awesome.
Rikki69 It was really cool meeting you too. Orcgor was lookin really fuckin good..
Kwipper Maybe someday I'll actually get to hear a music set from you, was happy to have a brother bear with me at the con.
To the people I met when I was there.
Makaio You never told me you made awesome TF videos. And you were a fuckin sight to see in your Gorilla suit.
stripekazama I'm glad you got to visit the states and you kicked anxiety's ass at the Who's Lion Is It? segment.
halfdagron Thanks for speaking up at the bar. I needed that beer and I'm glad we got to talking. Hit me on Skype!
el3ctrophr34k Thanks for hanging out. Love the chainmail. Let me be the first to know if the SPFB becomes a thing.
To the people I don't know the icons for.
Cypher? Cyber? ...Thank you for visiting my room and hanging out. You really made that friday night special.
Metal Leg Man: You were such a fuckin inspiration and I was so lucky to have met you at the con. You are incredible.
Heartbreak: Thank you for sharing your sketches with me. It gets better man.. Don't let anyone keep you down.
Alkali: Yeah. Whose Lion Hat guy. You're frickin hilarioous and a new inspiration for being a comedian. I wish we coulda hung out. Your ability to hold an audience is masterwork.
Real Wolf. You were there with Hijinx and your suit was amazing. Thanks for being open and friendly, even if i couldn't hear you too well sometimes.
Hijinx. Your black and green suit with the orange skull was awesome. Thanks for being such a friendly face at MFF. You really made me and shiro feel comfortable with our first experience at a furry con.
Izyxs?: We met on the last day of the con. Thanks for lending the room, loved meeting another writer. You're a beast!
To the artists I commissioned (just notes here, more later on the posted pics)
Wombat / L Frank: Thanks for being my first ever con furry commission. Your inks came out amazing. Thanks for doin barbarian Garr justice.
22mg Your art style is awesome. Thanks for chatting with me and then doing an awesome job on my character. The fact that you went out of your way to get the markers for really made me feel special.
flyingfire Thank you for the sketch. Honestly, speaking to you and getting to know you was the real prize, but the souvenier was really special.
aries84 I was such a dork when I commissioned you.. I know I did a bad job of detailing what I wanted, but you really instinctively reached into the characters and just made the perfect commission for me. Thank you from me and my friend. We both loved the work very much.
Apologies!
Schwalbe262 I swear i meant to get a hold of you to meet up but when the con got under way, it was all so big and new... not to mention the scrambling leading up to the con, I'm sorry. You slipped my mind. Next time.
Mebbe next time!
stigmata It was a shame you didn't get to go but I definitely felt like I got to know you a little based on the reactions I got when I talked to people about the commission I got from you. I am beyond pleased with the job you did and I hope we continue to stay in touch, even though I know you keep busy.
So.. Yeah.. Heh..
Lot of things have been said about the chlorine incident.
I won't add too much to that topic, suffice it to say, me and my roommates were ok.
I do think this wasn't an accident and I think it was meant to disrupt, not to seriously harm. There are better ways.
I am looking forward to finding out more about it as it develops.
Hopefully there will be some fingerprints on that jar. (I think they said it was a jar... right?)
The con was an overwhelmingly positive experience.
As a newbie, I didn't know what to expect but I met a lot of friendly people who made me feel welcome.
I often felt like it was less of a furry con and more of a hug con.
I think the reasons people join the community are varied and if you ask 10 people you'll get 10 different answers.
But being around so many artists, talented writers, suiters and comics was an absolute blast.
If you were ever feeling like you were on the fence about going I recommend it.
Open yourself up to meeting new people and just go and do it.
You won't regret it.

The con was indeed huge! I found it very hard to actually find a lot of the people I wanted to meet. Getting on skype is not reliable for me, so I tend to lean on text messages or messaging apps (whatsapp, telegram, etc). Even checking FA/Weasyl for messages was spotty for me. I just.. never think to check websites or skype because they take too long and my wifi is crap at the hotel. xD;;
But still! There's always next year. Or GFM, if you're not too far from the St. Louis area. ;D
So I am pumped and ready to enjoy next year's MFF and if all possibility, to be part of the convention and try my hand on the artist den too!
And for the leg issue, I think it's just a big bruise that is getting better little by little... Less grunts, but it still feels funny trying to get up and sit down still...!
Next time, let me draw on your sketchbook! I was sooo looking forward to that...
