it was doing a boot scan but I clipped escape to stop it and when I started it up everything was more or less gone some programs are still there

Damn! Dude this happened to me years ago. Sadly I wasn't able to recover my lost files and stuff. Since then I knew to keep a backup just in case. I'm really sorry. Hopefully you can recover yours in case I did something wrong when it happened to me.

You might have to do a system restore. just search that in the start menu and go back to the date before the boot scan.

System restore is all I can think of.. This has happened to me a couple times too :/

If you can't find any solution you might have to call a specialist for help, it would be worth the money.
