If your dentist is telling you you need one, then trying to avoid getting it is... Stupdenously idiotic.

If you simply mean you're trying to avoid cavities and such... Shit like this will spring on you, no matter your dental hygiene. I've seen people with wonderful dental hygiene end up with multiple fillings.

Wanna know how to avoid that?

Take good care of your teeth.

It's much harder to maintain false teeth. And much more annoying.

I guess a person like you isn't afraid of heart attacks, mouth pain, or gastrointestinal disorders and diseases either, huh?

I will interject to this. I had an experience with a "family" dentist who, after I specifically inquired over ONE tooth, he took x rays, refused to let me see them, and prescribed filling EVERY tooth, EXCPET the one I was curious about.... I immediately went for two other opinions, and had it confirmed that that first guy was insurance milking at the expense of my mouth.

Granted, this may be a better example of second opinions and asserting your right as a customer of health services, not so must validation of avoiding professionally proscribed services.

That's a doctor-by-doctor case. It won't necessarily be the same for any and all doctors, and it certainly won't be, either.

If you're conscious, you have the ability to request second opinions, that, while it should not always be exercised, should be used in cases like these.

If a doctor won't do it to you while you're unconscious, because of the fear of a malpractice lawsuit, then perhaps you should be looking for a new dentist.

One time, a filling came out by Eating a Gusher. Then I ate another gusher and the goo got inside the tooth. I think that one had to get pulled.

Thank god my tooth is hollow after the pulpectomy.
