I'm not sure what the hell's wrong with me today. I'm paranoid of absolutely every single noise I hear, it sounds like people are going up and down the stairs (shared entryway apartment stairs), which doesn't ever happen. I want to take a nap but I'm legitimately terrified someone's going to break in and rob me or murder me or something while I'm sleeping. I've been clutching my airsoft gun in my arms for an hour now ready to shoot absolutely nothing.
And it's Joey's birthday. I really need to fix whatever is wrong with me before he gets home.

Okay, so, the best advice I have is to find a quiet safe place in the house and practice slow breathing from the diaphragm. Inhale for five seconds, exhale for five. And just keep doing that. It'll help control your breathing and prevent hyperventilation, which will exacerbate the situation. Try and find something else to hold onto, like a teddy bear or a plush, something concrete that can fill your hands. Maybe take a hot shower or something like that, help do something tactile to distract your mind?
Also, Happy Birthday to Joey. :)
