Welcome back to Archetype Informer! We're going to go retro this time with a group of cards that's seem some recent developments: Dark Magician!
You know the drill, we tackle the archetype-related cards first (I'm tackling the one specifically relating to Dark Magician, ones that actually list him and his apprentice)
Dark Magician
Dark Magician Girl
Skilled Dark Magician
Dark Magician Knight
Dark Eradicator Warlock
Dark Sage
SPELLS
The Eye of Timaeus
Dark Magic Attack
Dark Burning Attack
Dark Magic Curtain
Knight's Title
Sage's Stone
Thousand Knives
Magic Formula
TRAPS
Dark Renewal
Eternal Soul
Miracle Restoring
Dark Illusion
EXTRA
Ebon Illusion Magician
Dark Flare Knight
Dark Paladin
Dark Magician Girl the Dragon Knight
Amulet Dragon
Now, there are a few ways to go about making a deck related to these guys. Usually people go for making the Fusions, which require Buster Blader, Flame Swordsman, and Timaeus. Using The eye of Timaeus is by and large the better way to go, but not the only way. Plus you can use a variety of cards to make an all Spellcaster build, maybe focus on getting Warriors and Blader to aid the Spellcasters. Either way, a few good cards for any of these are:
1.) Elemental Hero Prisma - Can make itself a fusion material listed in a Fusion Monster, so all you need to do is get the other material in your hand or on the field and this guy will help you fuse faster
2.) Magician's Circle - Can instantly summon Dark Magician Girl once another Spellcaster attacks. The attack doesn't even have to hit, it just has to be declared
3.) Magical Dimension - Helps summon Dark Magician or Dark Magician girl from your hand while also destroying an opponent's monster
4.) Pot of Duality - One of the few decks that doesn't necessarily need to worry about this card's Special Summon Drawback. Adds counters to Skilled Dark Magician while improving your options
5.) Summoner Monk - Helps get rid of Spells clogging your hands and brings out potential tribute fodder for your mages
The majority of this deck is about using one card at a time to search what you need or maintain your card advantage until you can make the right moves. As such a deck revolving around these guys doesn't necessarily have combos it can strong together, but it can still be fun to play. With all of the new support, the Dark Magician archetype is a lot more viable, and even if its just for a fun game or two, its certainly worth looking into~

Like how blue eyes does.
It's one of those archetypes that requires a lot of precision to work right, but is fun if you work it right. I'don't be happy to share my build sometime if you're interested?
Last time I played a dark magician deck, I went the ebony magician/rank 7 spam deck. Though I have seen the tiameus/emereal a few times. Never tried it though.
