I am horrified by this senseless killing. These were great people who died defending tolerance and freedom of expression. Rest in peace, you will all be missed.
islamist fundies assaulted a cartoon's offices, over 'YOU MUST NOT INSULT MUH RELIGION! ALLAH ACKBAR!' satirical crap. that's just about it; as dumb and primitive it gets.
not only a comics magazine has been attacked, but freedom of expression in general, and country-wide. but it was like this for years before that event.
lawsuits flying there and there, trials... CharlyHebdo sure paid the high price, but we know we will no longer be allowed to joke, or satire about who we want or who deserves.both the islamists and even more, israel...
those who have been the first to say it's AN OUTRAGE were the same people who, previously wanted people from this magazine behind the bars for incitating on religious hate.
a bunch of hypocrite fucks is what they are.
personally i'm gonna draw a little something that might get me beheaded...
If there's anything postitive to come out of this, it's the near-unanimous support for freedom of expression that's been shown in the days after the attack. Well, in liberal democratic countries. Obviously the various dictators and oppressors running the Muslim countries were quick to condemn the "Je suis Charlie" Mohamed on the cover of the latest Charlie Hebdo. It's darkly amusing how the governments of Saudi Arabia, Iran, etc, get so riled up about drawings while they themselves routinely jail, torure and murder dissenters...
Did any of the lawsuits against Charlie Hebdo ever result in conviction? When Jyllands-Posten published its Mohamed cartoons back in 2005, some dipshits tried to sue the newspaper for blasphemy, but it never even made it to court.
That said, if you're gonna draw something to piss off religious exptremists, you're a braver person than I. I honestly wouldn't dare draw Mohamed after this :C
