Moi je l'ai trouvé très bien ce documentaire, très objectif pour une fois, et Dieu sait que d'habitude je suis critique avec ce genre de choses - j'ai été moi-même journaliste pigiste pour AnimeLand pendant plus de dix ans, je sais reconnaître l'article bâclé ou tape-à-l'oeil de celui fait avec sérieurx et recul.
Tout ce qui était histoire du furry était particulièrement intéressant, et d'après ce que j'en ai vu de-ci de-là par les premiers piliers eux-mêmes (dont sont cités Steve Gallacci, Robert Hill, Kate Worley&Reed Waller...) ou leurs connaissances, fort exact. En fait, c'était surtout ça le sujet de ce documentaire pour moi, l'évolution de ce qu'a été le mouvement furry.

Après, par rapport aux expériences personnelles rapportées qui semblent t'avoir déplu, il est pour moi un fait que le mouvement furry réunit pas mal les handicapés de la vie (ce n'est pas péjoratif), et comme le disait Dr Kage justement, il ne faut PAS tenter de cacher les choses, mais de les montrer de la bonne manière. Et pour moi c'était positif.

Mais surtout, surtout, ne pas oublier une chose... C'est un historique et un état des lieux du furry AMERICAIN, avec l'historique américain, la culture américaine, etc. C'est sûr que si tu veux y voir le reflet de ce qu'est le furry français, tu ne t'y retrouveras pas vraiment !!

surement pour ça que j'ai rien capté à ce doc. Certes j'ai passé le tout en accéléré tellement de voir des mecs raconter leur vie sans rien en faire, c'est plus déprimant.

j'me suis toujours dit, un jour ils vont sortir un docu sur le furry après l'horreur de "BRONIES". Et ils l'ont fait.

Des handicapés de la vie je peux aussi en trouver et faire un docu sur le sujet, y'en a plein, pour moi on aurait dit une sorte de "Strip-Tease" ou "C'est mon choix". Etre un handicapé de la vie c'est fait pour se surmonter, justement le but des conventions ca devrait être ça. Pour que les nerds sortent de leur bulle.

Bref je ne connais pas les furries IRL mais d'avoir vu ce docu, leur facon de parler et tout, c'est limite flippant.

Ah, sur le fond je suis tout à fait d'accord avec toi, et voir des gens raconter leur vie cassée, c'est un des trucs qui m'a fait définitivement résilier mon abonnement TV il y a à peu près 15 ans, c'est pour te dire combien j'adore. Mais justement, en passant en accéléré, t'as raté les 3/4 qui était justement de l'historique et non pas de la télé réalité.
Les histoires de vies cassées, là, pour moi elles étaient intelligemment évoquées - justement pas de complaisance, pas de gros sabots à s'appesantir sur les malheurs de Sophie avec des violons miaulants (enfin, pas trop pour ces derniers... X-P ). On savait juste que quelque chose n'allait pas dans leur vie, et que le fandom leur a redonné le goût de vivre. Point. J'ai trouvé ça respectueux à la fois pour l'intéressé et le spectateur.

C'est marrant, parce que je n'ai absolument pas tiqué comme toi sur leur façon de parler, à tel point que je me demande si on a bien vu le même documentaire Je n'ai pourtant pas l'impression d'être réellement devenu un furry moi-même ? Si ??........

... En fait, en regardant tes autres posts - tu me dis si je me trompe, hein ? - , j'ai l'impression que tu as confondu le gars que l'on voyait la plupart du temps pour un fan qui racontait sa vie... En fait, le gars, ce n'est rien de moins qu'un des deux créateurs de Confurence, qui raconte ici la genèse du mouvement et de cette convention ! Certes, à travers sa propre vie au départ, mais dissocier les sentiments d'un organisateur de sa création, c'est se priver du fondement même, de la raison de cette création, ça a donc tout à fait sa place, je dirais même plus, c'est essentiel pour comprendre cette création et son évolution.

M'est avis que tu devrais te forcer à regarder ce truc de nouveau, je pense que tu serais surpris à la deuxième vision !
Maintenant, si tu restes sur ton impression après ça, alors ça m'intéresserait de savoir précisément ce qui te caresse le poil dans le mauvais sens - peut-être que c'est moi qui ai perdu de mon sens critique ?.......

I would not watch something like that. I have never been comfortable being considered "furry" and so never feel in accord with other people who are. They end up just the same as people who aren't furries, complacent and dull. But I also wouldn't watch a documentary about football or disney fans. Anyone who is foremost a "fan" confounds me.

I didn't vote for Trump (or Clinton) last time and he still won so you don't need to worry about me affecting the end result this time either!

but that documentary... it's like the guy who decided to make something emo about guys who collect comics or things about furries, and what kind of social outcast they are is just creepy.

if ever they made one about the artists. the makers, writers, musician, coders and not the "fans".

Not sure what to say here. People never understand being in this fandom until they're in it, and then it's still cringy at times. ^^;

Anyone who expects no cringe in *any* fandom is in for some disappointment, but making an iphone "documentary" is pretty sad 88 minutes long as well? Not gonna bother watching it.

i'll be honest I knew what it was about BEFORE even watching it. in fact, it's like every documentary you'll see about any subculture. bikers, retro computer geeks, vinyl lovers, fetishists, the same composition, the same sad music, the same focus about "X is all my life"
and on top of all that, these docs are the point of view of the person behind the camera, who organize who he meets and what he composes. I can make the same story, using feels and everything about say, the winecrafters here or some kind of electronics nerd.

I watched the first opening minute and every sentence made me think something didn't sound quite right. In fact, I don't want "normal" people to know more about things I like. I think I would prefer they know less and be as confused as possible. Would someone really want to see my bird in reality? It would be loud and annoying and probably get feathers everywhere. Unless that sounds amazing, "normal" people would probably prefer not to know more about it.

yep, that's exactly THE media. that's television in all its art of presenting anything as facts. there's many people who made videos about the fandom, about their thing, vlogging etc more or less accurate, all showing their point of view.
that guy there, just copy pasted the scenario of many documentaries from anything you'd see on a channel that relates "ghost adventures" "I have been kidnapped by aliens" öld stuff garage" or "ma cribs n crew".

I skimmed over parts of this thing because I didn't want to willingly sit through an hour of bullshit, because I know exactly what kind of documentary 'The Fandom: A Furry Documentary" is: heavily biased.

I don't watch documentaries at all, but I do know an important part of them is being NPOV, since having a neutral opinion ensures the content isn't dated, and it presents the zeitgeist of the era, like an old photograph. Heavily biased documentaries like these always rub me the wrong way because it's very obvious that the only reason these exist is to fellate the egos of the people who make them, and pander to those with a certain viewpoint. Bronycon the documentary did it, Tropes vs Women did it, and this fucking thing is doing it. I don't want to make my fetishes normal, I don't shove my obsessions into peoples faces, I don't want people to 'understand' something that is inherently weird. I was under the impression the fandom didn't want or need the approval of the outgroup normies, but obviously people like Ash Coyote and Uncle Kage are only doing this stupid campaign to "make the furry community look good".

No, it doesn't 'look good', stop trying to make it look good, I don't give a fuck about making something we've made for a particular niche audience and making it acceptable or god forbid "mainstream". it's fucking SURREAL to have a group where people dress up as funny animals and fuck each other and everyone knows it. Yes, we know there is more to furry than the porn, but the porn is a central and CRITICAL aspect of the culture, because making and posting whatever we want to create is our thing, and we have the money and the appreciation for art necessary to make that a reality. Ash knows this, Kage knows this, and we know this.
