Hhhhhoooo'K!
So when things happen, they happen fast. And I mean, FUCK'N FAST.
I've been slowly lamenting my PC these past few months. Built in 2006, and gone thorugh several death throws in 2010-11, the current computer I'm running is cobbled together out of 2 borked units plus new ram and GPU. It works and is quite stable... mostly. Today my big 120MM fan died. I've also had one out of the total of 6 USB ports totally crap out, but that's been that way for a while now.
So here's where things start speed-balling out of control. It all starts when X-mass rolls around. My first game design semester ends and I'm talking to a few of the more veteran students in the same major about how they plan on dealing with the staggering cost for software (Maya, Mudbox, Zbrush, Unity3D Pro, Cryengine, Unreal Engine, Speed Tree, Adobe Suits, and the like). It started me thinking "Well, I remember way back when I was in KU and doing animation, my PC barely was able to churn out a 3D mesh... but rendering, oh hell no..."
Soooooo, I took a look at my student loan total and compared it to the National Average... Turns out, I'm well below the national average. So, I decided: To jump start my career into video game design, I'm going to buy a top PC with one loan chunk, and the other I'll buy software licensing for commercial content creation. I also bought a computer desk (first time I've had one of those, ever)... Although, my desk is rather wobbly. It's not a big deal, but kinda annoying at times... thank you cheap Ikea.
My new PC comes in on Sunday. Or rather, it's build is finished. I basically walked through the parts store pointing at shiny things going "this one, and that one, and oooh! what does that do?". The guy helping me out was really kick ass. He knew his shit, even though tech has surpassed me, since the last time I built a PC was, like, back in fuck'n 2006 when dual cores were a huge new deal.
I won't bore you with the details but:
Intel i7 5960X
Asus X99 Rampage V
2x EVGA GTX 980s
*insert evil genius maniacal laughter here*
Also, I've decided to shoot an application into Blizzard for their yearly summer internship program. I know it's like winning the lotto, but you never know. I've gone about it with a completely unorthodox approach to everything. From my portfolio to my cover letter. I even turned my cover letter into an ancient scroll and am going to send it into the company just for fun. It's SUPER fancy and turned out amazing.
So yeah, things will be looking up very soon.
Also, yes, this does mean that I plan on making some 3D pr0n animations of the furry nature. though, who knows, unlike my writing and drawn art, maybe I can find someone willing to purchase commissions, lol.

*pet-pets* Yay, new shinies! Hope you get a bite from Blizzard or somewhere; I applied for a couple of positions a while back, but they were all declined.
