Pure Plant Pigment

Recently, I had the thought:
"Plants are green. I want to use that!"
As a child, I often mashed up leaves
to make fake-o magic potions with friends,
So I can remember that Dock Leaf gives excellent juice.
Found leaves, ground them to a fine paste with a little hot water,
then strained for a surprisingly effective green, watery paint.
It works a little differently from watercolour in that going
over it again with water does not smudge a dry mark, and
it dries much more slowly. It finishes in a rather interesting texture too.
As soon as I have the chance, I'll post works painted from this medium.
I love it!
Best art decision in a long time! :D

also made "tonics and potions" with water and fruit the fruit trees would drop, along with their leaves and petals.
I can't wait to see the paintings. sadly the pigments will probably "bleach out" over time with exposure to light, depending on what kind of leaves.. but that in itself, can be beautiful
There isn't much fruit here, so we sticked to leaves and sometimes berries.
Yes, I was a little worried about the pigment when the juice should eventually decompose.
I guess the chlorophyll would be broken down too.
but that's okay. I don't need permanence haha
You can probably do the same with things like beets
